Mandi Bahauddin: November 14, 2012. (Sher Gondal) President Asif Ali Zadari said elections would be held at due time and it would be ensured elections process was transparent. He was addressing an Eid Millan party held in his honor Tuesday at Malikwal. Commencing his speech in Punjabi he said he spent 7 years in Punjab jails – Attock and Rawalpindi and many party workers including from Mandi Bahauddin district whom he still remembered went to jails to meet him and spoke in Punjabi. Thus he learnt speaking Punjabi but still he was not fluent. He said he had planned to stay for some time at Lahore to further improve on Punjanbi language. He said he remembered that all praties leaders raised slogans “elections not acceptable” under Musharraf. But it was Benazir Bhutto Shaheed who opted to go for elections and asked other parties to do so. After elections a new era of politics started and that was to follow reconciliation policy among all political leaders. He said politics is a noble practice and nurturing enmity in it was dangerous for the nation. He said his party believed in democracy and our county existence, prosperity and stability depended on it. Therefore his party was promoting democracy and would advance it in future as well. He said his party plays politics for the state and not for the party, adding if country survived we would be able to do politics and if the county was not there how all of us would do politics, he questioned. He said power was the public and there was no greater power than it. We would make our nation with the support of people more civilized and more prosperous. He said his party did not work for one party; it worked for all parties. Referring to Malala he said Malala was following vision of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. This vision was education, peace, progress, prosperity and stability of the country and for this Muhtarama laid her life. He said even patwari was not willing to part his chair but he had given executive power to PM. He said his party was fighting for future generations and history would disclose this fact as it was recently disclosed in Asher Khan case how the democratic forces were blocked to come into power with the support of public. He said his government believed in providing equal educational opportunities to the less privileged and talented youth of the country with an aim to bring them at par with the more fortunate ones The president said his government had tried to strengthen the regional relationships with China, Turkey and other countries in order to make Pakistan better for the future generations. He said this was first time that incumbent government was completing its full tenure and now even other parties were confirming this. He said we must develop tolerance for each other. Brave is not who beat others rather brave is who bear the beating, he said. He said they would never let the country weaken and we would tie stones on our bellies for upholding dignity of nation, if need be, he added. Referring to terrorism in Karachi, the president said that it was part of terrorist’s policy to aggravate situation in Karachi to engage the state and undermine its efforts against war on terror. He said conspiracies against the country and nation were in action but he said if they thought that they would weaken the country, they were mistaken. He dispelled the impression that government was failing. He said it was result of tolerance and reconciliation policies that institutions gradually were becoming subservient of the parliament. Before ending his address he wished Eid Mubarak to the gathering and said sorry for not coming on the earlier date of the invitation. The Eid rally was attended by thousands of workers, supporters besides PPP central and local leaders. Earlier‚ Federal Minister and Central Punjab President‚ Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo‚ Federal Minister‚ Nazar Muhammad Gondal‚ Chairman Pakistan Baitul Maal Zamurd Khan and PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan addressed the Eid Milan party.
