ISLAMABAD: October 11, 2012. (SHAMIM MASIH): On October 11, 2012, Islamabad court granted the bail on submission of a surety bond worth Rs. 200,000/- Wajid Gilani, his lawyer maintained that since all the witnesses against his client backtracked from their statements, police now have no evidence of his involvement in the case. Muhammad Khalid Chishti Jadoon would have been released while I am writing this story. Let me remind you his statement on this issue printed in all English Papers of Islamabad on August 25, 2012, “Christian community had previously caused antagonism by playing music in services at their makeshift church during Muslim prayer time and said burning the pages was deliberate. “They committed this crime to insult us further. This happened because we did not stop their anti Islam activities before,” he said. “Last Christmas, they played musical instruments and there was vulgarity in the streets during our prayer time. I warned them but they did not stop.” During his sermon at Friday prayers, Chishti told worshipers it was “time for Muslims to wake up” and protect the Holy Quran. (The Express, Tribune 25th August, 2012) On Sunday, 7th October, Christian’s families from Mehrabadi were not allowed to worship during Sunday services, so they went to the administration and filed an application to DCO under the leadership of Akram Waqar Gill, chairman joint action committee for the rights of displaced families of Mehrabadi, Islamabad. Assistant commissioner (AC) Islamabad had marked their application to SHO police station Ramna G-11 for the investigation and to report her promptly. While she marked the application AC Islamabad said that she has personally visited the area and aware of the situation and will take serious action against the culprits if found. While submitting the application to official, Akram Waqar Gill said that I used to visit the families on daily basis and will not leave them alone until the situation becomes normal. We are all Pakistani and have the same rights in here and our constitution give shelter although we have to fight for it and we will fight. I am thankful to the administration for the taking care of it, he added. Akram Waqar Gill stated that APMA has nothing to do with resettlement of the displaced families of Mehrabadi, they just claim on papers and receive funds on their names. APMA had not provided a single meal to any displaced family. Dr. Paul Bhatti’s statements are totally baseless. He is just sitting to mount up money on their name; he has not visited them yet. He is coward and claimed all the things sitting in his shell. I requested the high official to investigate the donations he collected on Rimsha’s name without delivering anything to them. It is clearly seen that there are some people in the country who claim the ownership, while they forget that people from other religion are Pakistani too. All Pakistani have right to perform their religious duties according to their religion, under the light of Quaid-e-Azam speech on 11 August, at the time of independence. People belong to other religions other then Muslims have contributed in partition campaign.
