When Pakistani Christian are going through sufferings

ISLAMABAD: October 10, 2012. (SHAMIM MASIH): When our fellow Christians are going through sufferings we are not worthy to take any credits. Rimsha, a Pakistani girl of 14, was arrested in a poor suburb in Islamabad on August 16 after a neighbor accused her of burning papers containing verses from the Quran, in breach of Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws. On September 7, luckily, the court had granted bail to Rimsha against two surety bonds of Rs500, 000 each. She was then flown by a helicopter to an undisclosed location after her release from jail. Recalling my mind, I remember, I have not been absent even for a single day during case proceeding. I remember the day when surety bonds were submitted, it was raining all the day and we went through thick and thin. Rebecca Santana from AP was with me as she was trying to get copy of the bail order and I remember we went through different doors and at last she said, this is Pakistani courts system. My camera man was standing outside the jail since morning to shot her release moments and I was updating him from the court. Therefore I consider myself the eye witness throughout the proceedings. I looked around and I could hardly find few passionate Christians from all over the Pakistan. Who, always claimed that they extend their hands to all affected areas and people in need. There is a lot of information regarding the recent and past Christian persecutions that sway Pakistan over and over. Pakistani government has extended his hand in Rimsha’s release and taken her to a safe place. But unfortunately, many Christians (so called leaders) are seen wasting the funds on the name of Rimsha. They were not playing any role in the development of the community rather than wasting money in press conferences with Ullamas, meeting with different leaders. None of those Christians have done anything in the development sector for Christians even though they claim. Some of them have collected dollars arranging meetings after her release on the name of bail of Rimsha. While all Pakistani knew that she was released on the two surety bonds deposited by two God fearing people from Rawalpindi. Scientists say that a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can create a tornado in Texas a week later. Clearly, in today’s deeply connected Christian world, truthful unbiased and unfiltered news about realities of persecution is a basic need to pray for. Our Christian persecution news coverage is pitiable in Pakistan, but reminding the Christians around to unite, remain prayerful and patient so that we can ripple Christian love and concern through our own individual lives and the consequent lives we inevitably affect around us. We should always extend our hands in real love, like love of Christ Jesus.
