Lahore: October 5, 2012. (By Pervez Yousaf) “We won’t tolerate any conspiracy against the stability of Pakistan. Muslims and Christians respect one another and all the places of worships. We respect Islam and whosoever desecrates Islam we consider him an enemy, not only of humanity but of Christianity as well.” Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap Coordinator of Council for Interfaith Dialogue (CFID) expressed while talking to the participants of an interfaith conference organized by CFID and World Pasban-e-Khatme-e-Nabuat. He strongly condemned Terry Jones and his handful allies and appealed all the Muslim brethren not to become the victim of any conspiracy and harm their own brothers and sisters and respect Mosques, Imam Bargahs, Churches, Mandirs and Gurudwaras equally.
Similar sentiments were also expressed by the different Muslim religious leaders including Qari Muhammad Zawar Bahadur, Liaqat Baloch (former MNA), Pir Akhtar Rasool and Mian Muhammad Ashraf. All these leaders strongly condemned the producers of sacrilegious movie that has hurt the religious feelings of Muslim brethren throughout the world and damaged the peace promoting efforts. They demanded USA to bring those culprits in the international court and rule out the appropriate sentence.
Representatives of other religious communities, including Bhagat Lal (Hindu), Sardar Bishon Singh (Sikh) and Nousherwan Dastoor (Parsi) also participated in the conference. Leaders of the different factions of the Muslim community were also present on this occasion including Allama Mushtaq Hussain Jafri, Allama Waqar-ul-Hussnain Naqvi, Allama Naeem Badshah (Salfi) Quaid Ahl-e-Hadis and Allama Muhammad Mumtaz Awan (Maslik Deoband).
Host of the conference Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain thanked all the religious leaders in the end while all the participants strongly condemned the burning of a Church in Mardan and unanimously approved a resolution by show of hands and demanded government of Pakistan to arrest those culprits and proclaim punishment according to the prescribed laws of the country.
