Toronto: September 22, 2012. (PCP) On 14th September, 2012, International Christian Voice (ICV) organized a fundraising dinner at Woodbine Banquet & Convention Hall, Etobicoke in order to provide some financial support to falsely accused in Blasphemy Law RIMSHA MASIH and her family in Pakistan. More than 200 people approx. attended this dinner. The honorable MP Kyle Seeback was presided as guest of honor and among other dignitaries.
Miss Natasha Bhatti and Miss Sara Joseph were the MCs. Mr. Naeem Akhtar presented the overview of ICV, while Chairman ICV Mr. Peter Bhatti expressed that we are following Christ’s teaching where He mentioned from Matthew 25 that in order to show our love to Jesus Christ, we have to be kind to the poor, needy and deprived, therefore, we are trying our level best to present our services for all those needy and deprived.
The honorable MP while assuring his possible support for Pakistani Christians in Canada; he also assured to play his role in raising the voice against persecution of Christians in Pakistan. He also encouraged ICV to continue their struggle for the betterment of the community. Later the following members of the community were presented the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal awards for their community services: Rev. Edwin Riaz, Mr. Vincent Samuel, Mr. Tanveer Joseph, Rev. Javed Akhtar, Mr. Asher Habib, Mr. Johnson Howell, Mr. Cedrik Masih and Rev. Dr. Rashid Gill
Ms. Grace Khairullah clearly expressed that every single person has a role to play in community’s development. This poor child, Rimsha will be remembered for linking the forgotten and vulnerable Christian community of Pakistan with the rest of the world. Just like the sacrifice of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti, Rimsha will also be remembered in our community. She further stressed developing unity among all organizations of Pakistani Christians in Canada; so that strengths should be used for resolving problems back in Pakistan and here in Canada.
Other than these Councillor Vincent Crisanti ; Mr. Jaswal; Mr. Arshad Khokhar; Mr. Ahmed addressed the audience and two beautiful songs were sung, one by Mr. Raja Harrison, Mr. Max Gill and choir; and second by Alpha. General Secretary also announced that an amount of Can$ 7,000 app. has been collected from this dinner.
All the participants and honorable guests were appreciated and thanked for their presence and generosity by Vice Chair of ICV community Affairs, Tanveer Joseph.
After presentations, delicious dinner was served and at the end raffle tickets were drawn for the lucky winners. The prizes consists of a 32” Television, a laptop, a tablet, Nintendo DS; and lots more.
