Inter-religious conference demanded international law for respect of religious

Lahore, Pakistan: September 21, 2012: “I have talked to my government to express our sentiments in the United Nations session. I have got an appointment with the UN Secretary General and Ben Ki Moon and will inform him about the feelings of our Muslim brothers and sisters who are emotionally affected by the sacrilegious film INNOCENCE OF MSULIMS” Dr. Paul Bhatti; Minister In charge of Ministry of National Harmony and advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan was talking to the seminar participants gathered at the Ambassador Hotel organized by the National Council for Inter-faith Dialogue (NCIFD) and United Religions Initiative (URI) on 19th of Septemebr,2012. He said that he was sad to learn about this sacrilegious film against the Muslims of the world. He expressed his concern that the Christian community in Pakistan is with the Muslim brethren in this hour of grief and anger. He assured that as we have lived together for centuries will not let anyone break our harmony to respect at the religions of each other. With Respect for Religions as the title of the seminar Dr. Paul Bhatti strongly condemned the film saying that millions of followers are affected and the respect of religions should be ensured. Fr. Pascal Paulus; the vice provincial of the Dominican Order in Pakistan said that the responsible person of the film has created this unrest in the world and he should be brought to justice. He stressed that we have to promote dialogue and shun debate. In his welcome address the director of NCIFD Fr. Inayat Bernard condemned the film and said that the while humanity has to struggle for lasting peace in a peaceful manner. He informed the participants that the Council tries to conduct seminars, peaceful rallies, prayers services, press conference and today’s seminar was precisely to express our solidarity with the Muslims that we respect their prophet and will continue to work together for inter-faith harmony. In his Keynote address Prof. Anjum James Paul quoted different examples from the history about the tolerance and respect by Muhammd (PBUH). He said that the prophet allowed the Christians of Nijran to say the prayers in his mosque and preached not to harm women and children and the minorities in their homeland. Prof. Anjum James Paul asked to add different lessons in the syllabus to promote respect of religions. Sikh leader Sardar Ternjeet Singh that the freedom of speech is bound to be in used with responsibility. Freedom of expression is good thing but if it is used to hut other religions that freedom has no value. He strongly condemned the film and asked for justice to be done from the producers of the film. Hindu leader Bhagat Lal said that all books are sacred to their followers and their prophets cannot be disgraced by other religions because they bring disharmony among them. He said to respect all religions. On behalf of the Hindu community in Pakistan he condemned the film. Allama Muhammad Tahir Baghdadi said to reach their reaction to the concerned institutions in a peaceful manner. He said none has the right to harm human beings or propertied of others. If done it is not the spirit of Islam but against humanity. Allama Javed Akbar Saqi said what is happening is a planned conspiracy to declare Pakistan as a terrorist country. The attacks on Mosques. Imam baragahs, churches, graveyards are the part of this conspiracy. He said that until the distinction is made between a murderer and murdered person the terrorists cannot be unveiled. He said the Muslims and Christians of Pakistan will try to unveil these elements. Dr. Kanwal Feroze; editor of Urdu monthly Shadab said that some years back two films were made against Jesus. First was last Temptation of Christ which was available in the CD in Pakistan and other one was Davinci Code. Both of these were against the respect of Jesus. He further said that the Christian have been burnt and their places of worshiped desecrated but there have protested in a peaceful way and tolerated what was going on. He further said that the renowned singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has contributed t to the anti-Christ film through his voice. The Vicar General of the Church of Pakistan Rev. Shahid Miraj said when there is misunderstanding in any house then they are bound to sit together to sort out things to live in a harmonious way. In this seminar we strongly condemn this film which has brought disorder in the world and especially in the Islamic world. The Bible preaches love and one who destroys love cannot be a Christian. He said we are Pakistan is and not Americans. He said Pakistan is the home of all citizens. We have not only to tolerate one another but to accept one another as they are. Allama Syed Ayaz Zaheer Hashmi said in the Holy Quran the name of Jesus Christi is mentioned for 26 time. He said in Pakistan there is no majority or minority but there are two groups of cruel and victim. He is and that the human being s came before then the religions. In Pakistan the misuse of Blasphemy Law 295 PPC has to be stopped and same punishment has to be given in case it proved that the accusation is false. The national Coordinator Fr. Francis Nadeem prepared resolution and was read buy Muhammad Khan Riaz said we condemn the film and ask the UN to stop such films and freedom of expression which offends the religions. In Pakistan the syllabus one chapter should be added about the teaching of other religions and this will promote the respect of religions. Force conversions should be stopped and government should make law for the security of religions in Pakistan.
