Lahore: September 19, 2012. (PCP) The Christian community in Pakistan has shown the solidarity with the Muslims of Pakistan the entire world as they are religiously offended and angry because of the recent American sacrilegious film. During the Sunday masses the faithful said special prayers for the peace and tranquility in Pakistan. They also prayed for the wisdom and sense for the film producer and his colleagues that they may be conscious of the minorities in the world who are affected by their freedom of expression. They prayed that they may use their best of mind not to offend other religions but use their talents for the promotion of world peace and social harmony.
The parish priest of Immaculate Conception Church, Anarkali Lahore Fr. Inayat Bernard said during Sunday Mass that in solidarity with the Muslim brothers and sisters in this moment of anger and grief. We stand by them and demand from the responsible top take an action and ensure the respect of all religions.
In the recent daily newspaper the National Coordinator of National Council for Interfaith Dialogue Fr. Francis Nadeem, along with the other members of NCIFD urged the UN and the European Union to take note of this film and take action against the misuse of freedom of expression which has caused upheaval in the Muslim world. He said that the council is trying to maintain respect of all religions among Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and others who are citizens of Pakistan. Such films, he said, should be banned and necessary action should be taken against the producers of the sacrilegious film.
The protests by Christian NGOs and Muslims in Pakistan are going ahead with the violent protests. The Lawyers Bar Associations in Pakistan have boycotted the courts and the advocates will not appear in the courts tomorrow on the 17th in protest of the American sacrilegious film.
