Islamabad: September 17, 2012. (Shamim Masih): As they face various forms of discrimination from their Muslim bosses, poor Christians in Pakistan are among the most vulnerable sections of our society. Homeless people of sector H-9, Islamabad were severely beaten with their pastor by officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad. During my search for the displaced families of Rimsha case, I went to H- 9, sector Islamabad. This is another slum of Islamabad, with more than 300 families living in the tents since September 2009. According to Pastor Arif Khokher, on September 07, CDA official with its task force came to the slum and start beating to the Christians residents of the slum. One of the officers called the pastor, as he came out from his tents; he started slapping him without any reason. He pushed him to pull him up to his van. When the people heard the cry of their pastor they came out of their tents and rescued their pastor. CDA official’s warned them to leave this place with few days otherwise they will demolish their houses. CDA officials severely beaten the people and their pastor, they broke the arm of Mr. Yousaf Masih. Yousaf said, he was sitting outside the tents and CDA task force came there and ask him to call his pastor, as he was moving they start beating him with sticks and broke his arm. On leaving they launched FIR in I- 9 Police station, against the pastor that he called his people to rescue him. This slum is known as “Akram Masih Gill Colony”, when I called Akram Masih Gill to ask him about this incident, he didn’t bother to attend his cell phone. Then I left this massage to his PS, till now no action had been taken against those officials. These Christians were allowed to live there by the farmer Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Galiani in 2009, when they were displaced from the Shehzad town, Islamabad and then they lived on the road side of G-7. Since then they are living there in the tents, there is no electricity, no water provision, and no drainage system. Their living is pathetic, and no Christian leader seems to pay a whole lot of attention to them.
