SARGODHA: September 10, 2012. (PCP) A Russian Orthodox Church leader, the Rev Fr. Adrian Augustus, who is the special missionary sent by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, paid a visit in Sargodha and laid the foundation stone of “The Arch Angel Michael Russian Orthodox Mission,” in Sargodha, Pakistan, at the end of January, 2012. After establishment of the mission Rev. Adrian made his first pastoral visit to Pakistan in 2nd September, 2012. During his stay in Pakistani parishioners celebrated first Russian Orthodox Liturgy. This was the first Russian Orthodox Liturgy in this Indo Pak subcontinent. Brother Cyril Amer and Aaron Nadeem, active congregants of the Orthodox Church, who said that the Rev. Fr. Adrian Augustus, was given a warmhearted welcome by the congregants of the newly-born church. More than 200 congregants participated in the ceremony at which the Rev. Fr. Adrian Augustus was accompanied by the Rev. Fr. Nayyar Azad and Rev Fr. Farooq, Fr. Shamoon (former catholic priest) Brother Cyril and other local esteemed Christian clergymen and local youth leaders of the Russian Orthodox congregation.
