Karachi: September 4, 2012. (PCP) Member Parliament Sindh, Chairman Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Sindh & President All Pakistan Minorities Alliance Sindh today visited Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to see him in a wake of sympathy with Khurram S/o. Ishaq aged 15 years who was seriously wounded by indiscriminate firing / shooting by some unknown personals on 19-05-2012.
Due to rush and carelessness in the hospital, Khurram S/o. Ishaq shifted to private hospital. Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar assured his full support for his treatment, which would be provided by Khokhar’s Law Associates without causing any expense to him.
It is pointed out that on 19-05-2012 some unknown armed personals attacked Khokhar House, three persons namely Aftab Bhatti S/o. Khairat Masih aged 40 years, Khurram S/o. Afzal aged 22 years and Khurram S/o. Ishaq aged 15 years were seriously wounded by indiscriminate firing / shooting by some unknown personals. Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar was miraculously saved where Saleem Khursheed Khokhar meet the people every Saturday and Sundays so as to hear their problems. Heartbreaking thing is that the sentiments of Christian community were hurt when on their way back the terrorists attacked 7th Day Church & St. Luke’s Church.
Mr. Samuel Xavier personally visited the PS PIB and had the F.I.R. No. 125/2012 on 21-05-2012 lodged on the complaint of Mr. Aftab Bhatti who received bullet injuries.
Once again on August 29, 2012 the extortionists / terrorists who were 2 in numbers went to the shop of Mr. Faisal Masih Christian resident / shop keeper of Essa Nagri where majority of Christians reside for more than 55 years, these two extortionists fired at Faisal Masih a Christian Shop keeper who died instantly and two Christians namely Evangelist Credulous and Shahzad at their shop were also injured. Out of these two one had been hospitalized and under treatment.
Faisal Masih a Christian Shopkeeper was running cell phone credit transfer facilities to consumer he was shot dead in his shop by these extortionists who had been previously visiting this Christian Colony and had been threatening the Christian Shop keepers in this area time and again and collected money by threatening them and extending death threats if the extortion money not paid to them regularly whenever they visit their shops.
In this respect, most of the shopkeepers in this Christian Colony by the name of Essa Nagri remained under constant fear and no option but to pay the extortion out of their meager income so as to safe their lives.
These extortionists with arm and ammunition had been visiting the Christian Colony very frequently. This extortion money is properly known in Karachi / Pakistan by the name of Batha and this Batha Mafia is not only active in this Christian Colony but also in other areas and threatening the shop keepers so as to collect batha.
On behalf of Global Human Rights Alliance (GHRA) Chairperson
Ms. Jacqueline Sultan Advocate High Court along with Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar Member of Provincial Assembly Sindh Pakistan visited a victim’s family offered condolences and assured them of their legal assistance as and when required
