HYDERABAD: September 2, 2012. (By Abbas Kassar) Bishop Kalim John Diocese of Hyderabad Church of Pakistan has said that the incident of minor Christian girl Rimsha has not only created harassment among Christian community of Pakistan but has also increased among them the feeling of deprivation. He was addressing news conference at Hyderabad press club on Sunday. He said Pakistan was country of their own as it was created with their votes. They love Pakistan and were its loyal citizens that were why they were struggling for protection of human rights and human dignity. But he deplored that few extremist elements were not tolerating them and bore hate wave against them the proof of which was than on every coming day blasphemy cases were registered against them which has never proved. He said as many as 200 such cases were filed against them but none had proved. He said they want religious harmony with people of other religions that are why they strive for religious freedom, equality and harmony.
Bishop said recently a false case was filed against a minor Christian girl Rimsha which must be condemned. He said apart from being of minor age Rimsha is also not fit mentally as was proved in medical report. He said they were harassed by this case and thanked to some Islamic scholars and Pakistani media that had not only condemned case against Rimsha but also demanded her release. These Ulema have also demanded action against such elements. He said that they have also condemned religious fanaticism and revenge. He asked Muslim majority to care for feelings of Christians which were tarnished with incident of Rimsha. He said under such incidents a state of religious conflict was being hatched which must be foiled by all of us. He made appeal to religious parties and government to to play their role against religious fanaticims in country. He prayed for prosperity and security of Pakistan. To a question he said that around 50 families have left the area of Islamabad and have shifted to other places but not migrated from Pakistan. To another question he denied any movement on their part for separate province for Christians in Pakistan.
