Protest demonstration for Rimsha Masih in Sindh

HYDERABAD, PAKISTAN: August 26, 2012. (By Abbas Kassar) The organizations representing Christians and others have held protest demonstrations for release of 11 years old Christian girl Rimsha before press clubs Hyderabad and Karachi and demanded her immediate release and stopping misuse of blasphemy law. The protest demonstration held in front of press club by All Pakistan Christian League that was led by Maqbool Khokhar and Khan Baba. Addressing demo they said that age of girl Rimsha was only 11 years as such she was innocent. They demanded that blasphemy law must not be used against her and she be released. Meanwhile demonstration outside press club Karachi was held by various organisations and addressed by coordinator of Human Rights body Pastor Adnan, former Sindh education minister Madam Hamida Khuhro, trade union leader Habib Junaidi, Latif Mughal, Sheema Kirmani and others. They said Rimsha has been made victim of blesphemy due to personal quarrel. They said arrest and then booking of an 11 years old girl Rimsha was injustice. They said Christian community of Pakistan never ever thinks of desecrating holy book. They demanded that by effective legislation the Christian community be given equal rights and Pakisan be made bias free country. They demanded from chief justice of Pakistan to order the inquiry of the matter by a judicial commission of Islamabad High court instead of police. Meanwhile sources said that Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch of Pakistan have recommended to home ministry that Rimsha be kept in jail until the matter cools down as they have expressed apprehension that if released she along with her family and relatives might create problems by fundamentalist groups. They have recommended that for time being Rimsha is considered safe in jail.They have advised not to take any action in haste.
