Pakistan: August 18, 2012. (PCP) 11 years old mentally retarded Christian girl named Ramisha Bibi daughter of Misrak Masih, resident of Meherabadi in D-11 Islamabad was arrested under Section 295 B PPC of blasphemy laws by Ramna Police Station on August 17, 2012. Meherabadi is slum area in Sector G-11 of capital city of Islamabad where Christian working as sanitary workers or Christian women working as housemaids in homes of high profile Muslim officials are living from decades alongside Muslim laborers. Misrak Masih resident of Meherabadi slum was unable to have treatment of her mentally ill daughter Ramisha who was not used to play with other children in streets, kept roaming in vicinity when her parents were left for daily work. According to some Muslims living in vicinity of Meherabadi, they saw Ramisha burning pages of Quran (Holy Book of Muslims) on which they called other Muslims and announced to burn homes of Christians if Ramisha was not punished by administration after till Friday Prayers. Mohamad Amjid, a local resident was assigned by Muslim mob gathered after incident to approach Ramna Police Station and file charges against blasphemer 11 years old mentally retarded girl Ramisha on burning pages of Quran. According to World Vision in Progress Foundation WVPF Director Farrukh Saif, Ramna Police Station officials told them that FIR No. 303/12, have been lodged against Ramisha Bibi but refused to provide copy of First Information Report FIR. The WVPF team insisted to meet Ramisha Bibi but police officials said that she have been sent to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. According to a Christian Human Right activist and freelance journalist Mr. Shamim Masih, “Police raided in Christian Colony (Kachi Abbadi) in Sector G-11 and arrested 11 years Christian Girl, who is mentally retarded under Blasphemy case” Shamim Masih adds “Woman police inspector Sadaf told him on phone that she had to register FIR (First Investigation Report), because Muslim mob gathered around the police station after "Jumma Prayer" to pressure of registration of case against blasphemer”, After threats from Muslims to burn homes of Christians living in Meherabadi, the Christian residents have fled from area for safe places in other slums of Islamabad.
