Philadelphia: July 11, 2012. (PCP) Mr. Victor Gill, Chief of CVOP recalls that on June 19, 2012, I was stunned when US State Department and USIRF told our delegation that it's easier to have minority seats increased than have the procedural change in their selection to election system. Hence, we know that increase in minority reserved seats will not happen because of one person's media statement. Had this been the result of one person's media statement, then why it did not happen because of Shahbaz Bhatti's statements which carried much more leverage and clout than any of our current amateur politicians. The truth is that it's an election year; PPP needs some quick gimmicks to maneuver the minority votes. "Everybody to his own interest" is the name of the game here. We as a typical 'beggar community' quickly start fighting over the credit before even the results are achieved. But regardless, whether it will happen because of Tom, Dick or Harry, it is still a good omen, though in my opinion, it's simply an announcement for the recruitment of more "puppets" through selection system which keeps the minorities in a state of being politically handicapped. Only a procedural change of electing minorities to the reserved seats will empower them and reduce the minority-majority gap towards a tolerant society. Only then, the minorities will learn how to solicit votes for themselves rather than only giving away their votes to "majority masters."
Meanwhile, Mr. Khalid Gill, Chief Organizer of APMA wrote on social media “Congratulation regarding decision of the cabinet meeting held today and chaired by Raja Pervez Ashraf Prime Minister of Pakistan to increase the minorities reserved seats in the assembles as ratio of the population on the long standing demand of the APMA. Legislators of the political parties are requested to support our Chairman Dr. Paul Jacob Bhatti to pass the bill in the National Assembly of Pakistan. As decided in the cabinet a committed has been constituted to prepare the bill and committee is comprises on Dr. Paul Bhatti Advisor to PM as Federal Minister on National Harmony, Mr. Farooq H .
