Karachi, Pakistan: July 4, 2012. (PCP) Two Christian named Amil and Jawed were tortured by Karachi Police to investigate theft accusation reported by their Muslim employer when they denied his orders to convert to Islam after his yearlong forced evangelism of Islam. Mohammad Zeeshan Rasool, an influential and wealthy Muslim living in posh Defense Housing Society of Karachi has employed five persons for household from which Amil and Jawed were Christian. He was forcing and preaching Islam to his two Christian employees but on failing to convince them to convert lodged a theft complaint against them. The Police asked for bribe from Amil and Jawed to not face physical torture in investigation but poor Christians failed to pay such heavy amount on which they were beaten and tortured. According to PCP reports from Karachi, the complainant Mr. Zeeshan Rasool son of Mairaj, Muslim, adult, resident of Bungalow No.33, Khayaban-e-Shujaat, Phase-V, D.H.A. Karachi, registered a F.I.R. No. 127/2012 dated 24-06-2012 at Police Station Clifton, Karachi South, alleging that from his residence on the night of 9/10 June 2012, a theft took place in which Gold ornaments were robbed. The F.I.R. was lodged in the P.S. Clifton after a lapse of 14 days. In the house of Mr. Zeshan Rasool other than Amil and Jawed, Christian, adult driver by the name of Umer, a cook namely Jan Muhammad, Guard namely Iqbal Bhatti who are Muslims by faith also are employed but they have not been named in the F.I.R. for the reasons best known to the complainant. The complainant Mr. Zeeshan Rasool for the last one year was pressing and pressuring to Mr. Amil and Mr. Jawed the Christians employees to embrace Islam and on failing to face dire consequences. Complainant lodged an F.I.R to pressurize them by false theft case. Mr. Amil and Mr. Jawed came to know about the said F.I.R. against them they personally appeared before the P. S. Clifton. The Clifton P. S. S. H. O. / Staff shifted the alleged accused Mr. Amil and Jawed to Torture Cell at Gizri Police Station on the instructions of S. P. Clifton Dr. Farrukh. The torture cell run by S. P., Mr. Haq Nawaz Phulphoto, Sub Inspector / Incharge of Torture Cell and A.S.I. Mr. Sarwar phoned the brother of Mr. Amil namely Kamil Bhatti and demanded PKR 35,000/- for not torturing and beating the two suspects i.e. Mr. Amil and Mr. Jawed. On nonpayment of bribe brutally tortured both the suspects particularly Mr. Amil. He was hit by blunt weapon and profusely injured his feet and made him unable to walk. The complainant involved both the suspects in theft case who refused to embrace Islam. Mr. Aqil Sheraz brother Mr. Amil narrated this whole story to the lawyers of Khokhar’s Law Associates and Mr. Advocate Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, Member of Parliament Sindh Pakistan, President All Pakistan Minorities Alliance Sindh and Chairman Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs intervened and personally went to the Clifton P. S. and probed into the aforesaid matter who wrote letters pertaining to the said case to Hon’ble Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad, Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Sindh, Karachi, D. I. G. South, Karachi and Human Rights Organizations Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar assured the victims and their brother that the Khokhar’s Law Associate would plead their case free of cost in the interest of justice. Advocate Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, MPA Sindh & Chairman Standing Committee on Minority Affairs Sindh immediately met with DIG South on the above serious matter, whereby the DIG South was pleased to order an enquiry in the matter of above tortured persons. The DIG Karachi South Police tendered an apology on behalf of the police department who brutally tortured the above innocent persons and if the relatives the above persons which to lodge an FIR against concerned Police Staff even that can be registered. Upon this assurance the relatives of the suspects informed that they may be given two days to think over.
