Canadian Christian Association (CCA) 2nd Annual Youth Canada Day

Toronto: July 2, 2012. (Obaid Chudhry) Canadian Christian Association (CCA) held its 2nd Annual Youth Canada Day Basketball Tournament in Etobicoke, Ont., on June 30, 2012. The program was started with the opening remarks by Prof. Obaid Chaudry, CMA. CA. (past president CCA) and a Happy Canada Day wish. He requested the youth to get involved, in order to make Canada even stronger, and to make positive changes for the betterment of everyone. This was followed by a prayer and the Canadian National Anthem. Mr. John Gill, MBA, and president CCA, welcomed all the teams and the guests. In addition, he emphasized the opportunity to network and has fun. Five teams participated in the tournament as follow: Innovative Next, Evangelical Asian Church (EAC), North Burlington Church, Humberlea Worship Centre and Blazers. After the very competitive first round – first semi-final was held between Humber Worship Centre and EAC and 2nd between Blazers and North Burlington Church. Subsequent to an intense battle, where lead changed several times, Blazers and Humberlea Worship Centre advanced to the finals. Humberlea Worship Centre won a very excited final and was recognized the “CCA 2012 Youth Canada Day Basketball Tournament Champions.” The MVP was awarded to Kern. Lewis of the Humberlea Worship Centre. Trophies were given to all the participating teams; furthermore, a certificate of appreciation was given to all the players. CCA is grateful to its sponsors (Asher Habib and Copy Fast, Shazad Sindhu an Bombay Boutique and the Mallo Family) for making the event a super success.
