PMA Sindh threatens to boycott hospitals on kidnapping and killing of doctors

LARKANA: June 9, 2012. (Nazir Siyal) Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) warned government of province wide boycott of hospitals and clinics throughout against the killing and kidnappings of Doctors community, this she said by the President PMA Sindh Dr. Samrina Hashmi here in her press conference followed by 2nd Provincial Council in Larkana meeting on Saturday. She said that the government of Sindh failed to protect the Professors and Doctors community at their hospitals, clinics, Homes and everywhere they received threats of Bhatta Khori and other criminal threats in Sindh. She said so far 4000 thousand qualified Doctors and Professors have left the country due to fear of kidnapping and killings are routine, while the applications of more than 2000 Doctors have been submitted to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for approval of going abroad she said. Dr. Samrina said these qualified Doctors were assets of Pakistan and their services should have been utilized for the Pakistani people but the government inefficiency, we lost this asset are now leaving the country to the abroad in future she told. President PMA said five Doctors were kidnapped for ransom and one of them Professor Aftab Qureshi was murdered due to the ill planning of Sindh police and administration, added that three Doctors are still in the clutches of Dacoits, while the life threats are being issued to the medical professionals are at large. She further told that 3000 thousand vacant posts are lying vacant but government is not going to recruit to meet the shortage of medical professionals in the various hospitals of Sindh province. She said PMA helped flood victims of different parts of Sindh by provided relief goods, tents, medicines of millions of rupees and all this is audited accordingly. On the occasion, former Director General Health Sindh and General Secretary PMA Dr. Hadi Bux Jatoi claimed that the government is inefficient and non-serious, despite of resolution of health issues CSP corrupt officials inefficiency led the departments to the destruction and heavy misuse of billions of rupees in the name of procurement of health technologies throughout Sindh, added that in Hyderabad LMC a latest equipment’s of billions are installed but there is no cardiac surgeons and other professionals he said. Jatoi said it is the worst situation in every district and Taluka hospitals witnessed, while the rates of transfers and postings specially the Medical Superintendent and other professors and Doctors are common in the government’s he said. He also criticized the role of PPHI at every Basic Health Units (BHC) and Rural Health Centers (RHC) for its failures to provide adequate health services and substandard medicines of billions of rupees, where there is no any audit or check and balance by the corrupt officials he said, before this, during the 2nd Provincial Council Meeting, President PMA Sindh Dr. Samrina Hashmi presided over the session, while Vice Chancellor SMBBMU Prof. Akber Hyder Soomro, Medical Superintendent CMC Larkana Dr. Ashfaq Memon, Joint Secretary PMA Sindh Dr. Sharif Pirzado, President PMA Dr, Shah Baig Chandio, VP Dr. Afsar Bhutto, Dr. Ikram Tunio, Dr. Anil, Dr. Bhagwandas and several Doctors of Chandka Medical College Larkana and SMBBMU. On the occasion, the cultural gift Ajrak and Topi was presented to the guests and other members across the Sindh regions, those who participated in the Event.
