Lahore: June 5, 2012. (PCP) “We have seen even harder times when our poor people used to take water in their hands being poured by the landlords or their servants of another community”. These were the words of the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Lahore Bishop Sebastian Francis Shaw ofm. He continued that the times have improved and there is better recognition of the Christian community. In his homily he encouraged the audience gathered for the 125 years jubilee of the Archdiocese of Lahore at the Mary Immaculate Conception Church, Anarkali, Lahore to stand firm in their faith and trust in the Lord in all their activities at home, place of work and the society. Frs. Joseph Louis, Francis Nadeem OFM Cap and Fr. Patras Samuel joined the Bishop and the parish priest in the Jubilee celebrations. At the end of the jubilee mass reception took place where the faithful of 11 full time and part time catechists garlanded the Bishop and expressed their love. In response the Bishop presented shields to the catechists, presidents and members of Chaudhries, Jesus and Mary Youth Group, Catholic Youth Organization, Mariam Bedagh Group, Parish Choir and most active Anarkali Parish Youth group. Prior to that the Mariam Bedagh group organized welcome of the bishop at the main gate of the church compound with the band and the elderly members of the community haudhries put the turban on the head of the bishop to highlight the Importance that we respect and love him. Special Rosary was led by Miss Mariam Yousaf while the coronation was prepared by the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. The kids of St. Joseph High School, Thornton Road, Lahore played the tableau in honour of Our Lady. Two girls Sumbal A’Ditta of Gulshan Ravi and Night Tariq of Bhatti Gate presented Golden crown to Our Lady. Anthony and Parveen had prepared Bishop’s photo on flex and presented him while the Anarkali Parish Youth Group also presented a flex photo of the Bishop and the parish Priests Fr. Inayat Bernard. The Franciscan Tertiary of Lahore (Mariamabad Sisters) and Jesus and Mary Sisters also joined in the Jubilee event. Eastblishd in 1886 by the Belgian Capuchins has 26 parishes in the Archdiocese of Lahore in the 8 districts of the biggest province of Punjab.
