Sindh province observes Labour Day in Pakistan

HYDERABAD/LARKANA: May 1, 2012. (Nazir Siyal) World Labour Day was observed in different parts of Sindh province by a large number of workers labours to pay tributes to the martyrs of Chicago, those who laid their lives for the rights of labourers. In Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Nawabshah and other parts of province, May Day was observed throughout the country. On the occasion, labour gatherings, seminars and rallies were held in different parts of the Sindh to pay tributes to those who laid down their lives in Chicago in 1886 for the rights of the labourers. The rallies in different districts passing through the main thoroughfares of the city reached at the Press Clubs of Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Qamber-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu and other parts of province. Hundreds of workers took out a rally and staged a protest demonstration outside districts at Press Clubs in protest for increase of wages and against price hike and unemployment. On the occasion, Khaksar Mazdoor Federation (KMF) led by Mohammed Uris, Nabi Sher Brohi, Pir Bux Abbasi, Peoples Labor bureau led by Javed Mangi, Watan Dost Mazdoor Federation Central leader led by Comrade Abdul Aziz Abbasi, Provincial President Manzoor Ahmed Kumbhar, Gul Korai, Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labor Union headed by Zonal Chairman Nisar Ahmed Shaikh and Zonal Secretary Ghazi Khan Lashari, Batha Workers Union and other organizations took out the separate rallies shouted slogans for the rights of poor workers of country and prosperity of masses. Speakers addressing the rally, they said first May is a day of struggle and revolution for the rights of poor labor. They lauded the historical struggle of martyrs of Chicago who set the new example for the noble cause of labor, leaders termed it a great day of history, labor union leaders expressed concern that still industrialists and capitalists in Pakistan are dominant, poor labors are not given their legitimate wages, they demanded of government to control the poverty, unemployment and stop the economical murder of poor labors, otherwise the revolution will be emerged in Pakistan.
