Inayat Bernard) “During the annual retreat of the Archdiocesan priests of the Archdiocese we pray for the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI and wish him long life and good health”. These were the words of the apostolic administrator Bishop Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM on the 19th April, 2012 during the annual retreat for the diocesan priests. Talking to 22 diocesan priests he said that it is a blessing for the entire Catholic Church that he is our unity figure. The Archdiocese will continue to bring the message of the risen Lord who appointed St. Peter to lead the church and the Holy Father continues this commandment of the Lord.
Annul retreat preacher Fr. Emmanuel Asi said that it is a happy occasion for her international church and the local church as well. He wished that the Holy Spirit may guide the church in the forthcoming Synod of the bishops in Rome in October 2012.
Biblical scholar said after the cake cutting ceremony at the Renewal Centre, Youhananbad Lahore that we celebrate the anniversary of the inauguration of Pontificate of the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI when from October 2012 the 50th year is going to begin of the Vatican Council II. Fr. Asi wished that the Holy Father may inspire the church to implement many documents of the council for the spiritual benefit of the faithful around the world.
The youngest diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Lahore 34 years old Fr. Almas John said that the Holy Father is the model for all the priests of the world. He appreciated that the Holy Father is well aware of the situation in Pakistani Christians and he is so concerned about his sheep that he showed his concern for the release of Asia Bibi who is in the Sheikhupura jail ; the birth district of Fr. Almas John.
In the Mass special prayers were said for the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church Pope Benedict XVI and they enjoyed the cake which was cut by the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Lahore.
