Islamabad: April 18, 2012. (Anjum Paul) Pakistani minorities will be more insecure with the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan on the conversion of three Hindu girls named Rinkle daughter of Nandlal (Mirpur Mathello), Dr Lata daughter of Dr Ramesh (Jacobabad) and Asha (Larkana). A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez allowed the girls, Faryal Shah (Rinkle Kumari), Hafsa Bibi (Dr Lata) and Haleema Bibi (Asha Kumari) to decide by themselves about their future. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC commenting on Division Bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mouhammad Chodhry have surprised millions of Pakistani Christians on not recoding statement of Hindu girls in open court but ordered police to take them to Registrar office. Dr. Bhatti said that these victim girls of kidnapping and forced conversion were begging and crying before Division Bench on hearing of March 26, 2012, to send them with their parents but apex court order to send them to shelter which created doubts among minorities that decision will be very surprising which proved today in hearing of April 18, 2012. Nazir Bhatti added “Religious minorities in Pakistan have lost confidence in higher courts on this decision” “I am of the opinion that the there was no justice in the decision made in the conversion of three Hindu girls” These were the remarks of Mr. Kanji Rano Bheel, Advocate High Court and activist of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan while talking to Assist News Service. Hindus and the people of other religious minorities will not send their daughters to the educational institutions because there can be such decisions in future as well. There is controlled judiciary in Pakistan besides all the other state institutions as they are all under the control of the religious extremists. Mr. Kanji continued saying that there are 85 % of total population of Hindus in the four districts of Mirpur Khas Division. There are 50 % Hindus in the Mithi district, 35 % in Umer Kot district, 34% in Mirpur Khas district and 30 % in Sanghar district of the province of Sindh. He continued, Hindus are very much insecure as the ratio of the kidnapping and forced conversion to Islam is increasing day by day. Our Hindu families feel insecure in their own homeland. We are the inhabitants of this land for thousands of years. We are not immigrants but are treated worst by handful extremists. Answering a question Mr. Kanji said that there are discriminatory laws in Pakistan and even the constitution of Pakistan is biased against the religious minorities. A non Muslim cannot be the Prime Minister or the President. The state of Pakistan is being controlled by the extremists and the most recent example is of the Bannu prison which has been attacked by the extremists. Mr. Kanji continued that he was in the struggle of the restoration of the judges and took part in the long march but chief justice has disappointed the minorities with his biased decision. This is a sort of assassination of minorities. Answering a question about the role of the members of the parliament from the minorities Mr. Kanji said, the minorities’ parliamentarians have closed their eyes on all issues. They are faithful to the leaders of their political parties who have nominated them. They are not the voice of the minorities as they are not elected by our votes. They do not debate on the minority related issues but simply “yes men” to their bosses. They are powerless without any authority. They must resign on this issue if they are really the representatives of their religious communities or protest in and outside the parliament and public places. He further said that if a non-Muslim marries a Muslim girl he is assassinated as in our district a Hindu boy married a Muslim girl but was assassinated. Where was article 9 of the constitution of Pakistan? This article protects the rights of the Muslims only and minorities are unsafe. If, too much time is taking place in the NRO case and other cases which are lying in the Supreme Court of Pakistan then why the decision has been announced without any hearing? Doubts shall always remain in the innocent minds and hearts of the oppressed and suppressed minorities forever and ever after this decision. Pervez Rafique Member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly and the leader of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) while talking to ANS said, “We are against the forced conversions and kidnapping of girls from the minority communities. There must be proper legislation to stop such crimes and punishments must be awarded to such elements.”
