LARKANA: April 7, 2012. (Nazir Siyal) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has expressed his grief on death of Jeay Sindh Quomi Mahaz JSQM leader Bashir Khan Qureshi.
Mr. Bhatti said that Bashir Qureshi was symbol of struggle and hope for oppressed and downtrodden nations of Pakistan and Mr. Qureshi campaigned for rights of Sindhi nationalist all his life.
Nazir Bhatti in a message to JSQM leaders and activists said “Pakistani Christian pay tribute to Bashir Qureshi and extend condolence on hs death”
Meanwhile, Nazir Siyal, a senior journalist from Sindh reports that Chairman Jeay Sindh Qoumi Mahaz (JSQM) Bashir Khan Qureshi was laid to rest at Ratodero By-pass road late night Saturday.
The funeral prayers of Nationalist leader was held at at Ratodero High School in city at his birth place and thousands of political leaders and workers of Jeay Sindh fractions and other nationalists attended they were beating their chests/heads and weeping for his early death, which they said a great loss for Sindh.
Bashir Khan Qureshi was 54 passed away due to cardiac arrest in late night on Saturday at a local hospital near Sakrand some 200 off from Hyderabad. He left behind a wife, three sons and four daughters. Habibullah Jatoi a political worker of JSQM and friend donated 2 acre land for his burial place and future events.
On the occasion, hundreds of Sindhi nationalists and civil society people gathered at the residence of late Bashir Khan Qureshi at Ratoder and Gulshan-e-Hadeed Karachi.
Tens of thousands of mourners assembled to see their beloved leader’s coffin in Larkana and Ratodero a final resting place. They wailed and beat their heads/chests in a grief as the funeral procession reached Larkana Chandka Medical College Hospital at mortuary for postmortem and later Ratodero by a caravan of the party.
The mourners and workers were seen crowding around the funeral car crying and wailing as it moved slowly along. Several political party leaders and fractions of the Jeay Sindh and workers across the Sindh reached Larkana and later Ratodero.
The security of police was beefed up in the Larkana and Ratodero on the occasion, the markets and bazzars, petrol pumps were remain closed all parts of districts of Sindh and traffic was thin on the roads, everywhere the people were beating their heads on this sad demise.
Maqsood Khan Qureshi, brother of deceased Nationalist Leader told that he left Larkana to attend the ceremony of JSQM worker late night and reached at his political colleague Fahim Magsi’s house in Sakrand, after the dinner he felt uneasy and rushed to the local hospital wehre confirmed died due to cardiac arrest.
The condolence meetings/gatherings in Karachi, Hydyerabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Shikarpur, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and other districts were held and Quran Khuwani for the Eisal-w-Sawab was also organized at different parts of Sindh.
JSQM Chairman was among a worker he started his political career as worker with founder Jeay Sindh Tehreek G. M Sayed in 1976. The son of Ghulam Murtaza Qureshi, Bashir was born on 10 August 1959 at Motan Pur Mohalla in Ratodero city of Larkana district. He became a chairman of JSQM in 1998, while during prison formed faction of Sindhi nationalist party Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz in 1995. He remained in prison on grounds of his nationalistic activities about 10 years in different times.
On the occasion, Asif Baladi, Central General Secretary of JSQM and other leaders said that the death of Chairman Bashir Qureshi was a conspiracy by evemies and agencies.
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto, Sindh Chief Minister Sayed Qaim Ali Shah, Sayed Khurshed Ahmed Shah, Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Fahmida Mirza, MQM leader Altaf Hussain, SNF leader Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, Qamar Bhatti, Chief Khaksar Dr. Sabiha Arshad Al-Mashriqi, the leaders of political parties among Jeay Sindh Mutahida Mahaz, JISM, Sindh National Front (SNF), PPP, Sindh United Party (SUP), PPP Shaheed Bhutto, Jamait-e-Islami, JUI, Khaksar Tehreek Jeay Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (JSTPP), Awami Tehreek and several others also condoled on the sad demise of Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi.
