Islamabad: April 5, 2012. (PCP) Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik and his wife Mary Salik collectively washed feet of hapless and oppressed homeless tenants and slum dwellers on Thursday, April 5 at 3 pm in front of the National Press Club, F-61, Islamabad.
Hundreds of men, women and children belonging to hapless and oppressed homeless dwellers took part in the feet washing ritual.
Addressing homeless tenants and slum dwellers after washing their feet J Salik said since Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s promise he made to allot 80 sq yard plots in the urban areas and 5 marla plots in the rural areas to the homeless tenants and slum dwellers World Minorities Alliance took out dozens of rallies pressing for their demand, but it seemed the Prime Minister had betrayed them by making a false promise. He said World Minorities Alliance was committed serving the hapless homeless tenants and slum dwellers and would never give up struggle to rights of homeless tenants and slum dwellers.
He said in their four years struggle to get residential plots as promised by the Prime Minister homeless tenants and slum dwellers had hurt their feet while marching in countless rallies in support of their demands. J Salik said that by washing feet of homeless tenants he wanted to convey message to other leaders that the World Minorities Alliance believed in rendering real service to the poor and the oppressed homeless tenants. He said real politics is about serving masses and not making false promises like Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He said World Minorities Alliance would never give supporting the genuine demands of hapless and deprived homeless tenants,
He resolved that homeless tenants and slum dwellers will fight till their last breath to get residential plots as promised by the Prime Minister.
