AFB urges US to give logistic support to Baloch freedom fighters

Washington DC: March 27, 2012. (Ahmar Mustikhan) The American Friends of Balochistan made an impassioned appeal to the U.S. government to provide training and arms to Baloch freedom fighters or sarmachars who are engaged in a David-and-Goliath struggle for the freedom of Balochistan. The A.F.B. made this demand to three U.S. congressmen who spoke at the Newsmaker event at the National Press Club on Tuesday afternoon. Reps. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Steve King (R-IA) reiterated their support to the right to self-determination for Balochistan on the 64h anniversary of Balochistan's forcible merger with Pakistan at the point of gun. Rohrbacher has sponsored a house concurrent resolution on the right to self-determination for Balochistan; Gohmert and King are co-sponsors of the resolution. "The Balochs are an oppressed population. They have the right to their own country. The United States should be on their side," Rohrabacher said. All three congressmen blasted Pakistan for being a bastion of radical Islam. Pakistan, a nuclear power with the world's fourth largest army, is the world headquarters of al Qaeda, Taliban, Jaish-i-Mohammed and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi. The A.F.B. drew the attention of the U.S. lawmakers to the ongoing daily genocide and whole-scale massacre of Baloch youths and political activists in Balochistan and appealed to the U.S. to provide training and arms to the Baloch sarmachars. The A.F.B. fully supports the resistance movement but asks the resistance outfits not to target any unarmed civilian as it will weaken their case internationally. In fact, a pro-Pakistan blogger tried to bad mouth a popular resistance outfit called the Baloch Liberation Army, which has carried out heroic actions against Pakistan military and Frontier Corps in defense of the Baloch homeland. However, Rohrabacher said he was not in the U.S. government and could only provide moral support to the Baloch freedom movement. The main resistance leaders of Balochistan include Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, Hyrbyair Marri and Brahumdagh Bugti. An A.F.B. founder envisions a secular and democratic Balochistan -- just like Israel --, and has urged all men and women, aged between 18 to 70, to prepare themselves for the defense of their homeland so that no power on earth can dare enslave them. The A.F.B., a grassroots organization with members in multiple states, comprises both Americans and Baloch from different political backgrounds who are united on the right to self-determination for Balochistan.
