BPCA rally in London to pay Tribute to Shahbaz Bhatti on March 10th

UK: March 7, 2012. (PCP) The British Pakistani Christian Association BPCA is organizing its annual Peace Rally on the 10th March 2012, in which tributes shall be paid to slain Pakistani Christian minister Shahbaz Bhatti also. The activist of different organizations and community leaders participating in rally will gather in front of Pakistan High Commissioner offices at Lowndes Square London to demand repeal of blasphemy law in Pakistan and to end victimization of religious minorities under controversial Islamic laws The protestors will hand over a Petition to stop persecution and oppression of religious minorities with offices of Pakistan High Commissioner in UK and lodge their protest on not arresting Islamists involved in assassination of Christian federal minority minister Shahbaz Bhatti who was gunned down in capital Islamabad on March 2, 2011. According to press release of BPCA, it has extended invitation to: Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian of Armenian Church, Mr. Stuart Windsor of Christian Solidarity Worldwide CSW, Revd. Dr. Darrell D. Hannah of All Saints, Ascot, Canon Toby Crowe of St James Alperton, Mr. John Pontifex of Aid to the Church in Need, Irshad Manji of Moral Courage Project - Muslim Reformist, Mr. Kasim Hafeez of The Israel Campaign, Julia de Blaauw of Global Human Rights Defence, The Hague, Lyn Julius of HARIF a group representing Middle East and North African Jews, Dr Helmy Giurgius of President UK Copts, Mr.David Dean Nelson Church, Gareth Wallace of Public Liasions Advisor to Salvation Army - speaking in personal capacity, Rev Kevin Logan of Christian Peoples Alliance and Lancashire Telegraph, Andrea Minichiello-Williams of Christian Concern, Dr Shahzavar Baloch of International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, MP Lee Scott of Conservative Party, Martin Mawyer Founder and President of the Christian Action Network (USA), Alan Craig of Christian Peoples Alliance, Rev Stephen Green of Christian Voice, Desmond Fernandes of Genocide Scholar, Imam Dr Hargey of Oxford Islamic Congregation, Dr Desmond Fernandes a Genocide Scholar, Mr. Upkar Rai, Chairman British Sikh Council, Mr. Jesbir Singh of Free Sarabjit Singh Campaign, Ranbir Singh and Chairman Hindu Human Rights Group. After demonstration in front of Pakistan High Commission, the activists shall march towards 10 Downing Street at 1300 HRS, where guest leaders shall speak against discriminatory laws targeting Christians and other religious minorities in Pakistan. BPCA leaders along with dignitaries shall present a memorandum with office of Prime Minister of UK. The annually Peace rally of BPCA shall turn to be a Peace concert at Trafalgar Square London at 1500 HRS where religious leaders will lead prayers and Ooberfuse Band , Coptic Choir, Nelson Catholic Choir, George Eliot Dancer and Gerry Coates and Choir will sing hymns. Mr. Wilson Chudhry, President of BPCA have appealed to Pakistani Christian Diaspora in London to participate in Peace rally and to pay homage to Slain Pakistani Christian minister. He also announced that group of Punjabi Dholl will lead that rally from 1030 HRS at Pakistan High Commission office to 10 Downing Street to Trafalgar Square till end of rally at 1500 HRS.
