Islamabad: February 24, 2012. (PCP) World Minorities Alliance has decided to take out a rally demanding independent status for the United Nations and recognition of Urdu as one of the UN languages. Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik in a statement issued Friday announced holding the rally on March 1 (Thursday) in front of National Press Club Islamabad at 2 pm. Chief Patron World Minorities Alliance Mehboob Ullah Jan will lead the rally. J Salik said for as long as UN Headquarters was located in the United States of America, the world body would not be able to work independently. He said ironically those wanting to visit the UN need a US visa as if the world body was one of the serving states of America. He demanded shifting of the United Nations Headquarters to an independent soil where the world body should have its own currency, passport, airport and visa issuing authority. He also demanded a reserved seat for minorities in the UN. He warned that if the UN was not given an independent status it would not be able to avert Third World War as the League of Nations failed to save 50 million live lost during the World War Two.
