Baloch leaders line up on Balochistan Freedom Charter

Washington DC: February 19, 2012. (By Ahmar Mustikhan) "I don’t want anyone to say in future that there is disunity among Baloch leaders because of ego. That is why I have taken the initiative myself and as far as possible I will go and meet the leaders and will send it (freedom charter) through my friends to other leaders where it is not possible for me to go." This was stated by Baloch patriotic leader Hyrbyair Marri, whose commitment to the idea of independence of Balochistan remains unchallenged, though his tactics and political arrogance have come under extreme criticism in recent months. “Our youth and leaders have sacrificed for an independent Balochistan, we will not go back a single inch from our stance,” Marri said after meeting the De Jure Ruler of Balochistan, Khan of Kalat, the Right Honorable Mir Suleiman Daud, in Cardiff, U.K., Wednesday. Marri flew to Geneva last week to meet with another important Baloch leader Brahumdagh Bugti. On Thursday Hyrbyair Marri also phoned "Baloch Nelson Mandela" Sardar Akhtar Mengal and apologized to him that he could not travel to the U.A.E. because of travel restrictions. One of Marri's comrades will take the charter to Mengal. The Khan of Kalat, Marri and Bugti, were all on the same page that due to frustration, Pakistani security forces are killing Baloch youth. They concurred that in these conditions it is responsibility of Baloch leaders to unite the Baloch nation and inform the world in a better way about state terrorism and brutalities in Balochistan. The leaders agreed that the problem of human rights violations in Balochistan and its solution, which rest in an independent Balochistan, would be raised in every forum of world. This Balochistan freedom charter is a secular document which portrays the intentions of the Balochistan leadership to avoid conflict with international interests. The charter promises Balochistan will be an independent, sovereign and neutral country that will follow the international law and assure peace in the region. Once the charter is critiqued, our second step will be the formation of a provisional constitution for Independent Balochistan. Khan of Kalat has put Pakistan in the eye of a storm by his lobbying efforts for Balochistan in the United States. Marri urged world powers, who are trying to control international terrorism, to stop the intervention of Pakistani backed jihadist forces in Balochistan. "The world should know that Baloch nation and their struggle have restricted the jihadist forces from making Balochistan their sanctuary and safe heaven," Marri said. One of the main tests for Marri is his war-like posture towards Bijaranis, who form bulk of the Marri tribesmen and have produced some of the best guerilla leaders like Mir Hazar Khan Ramkhani and the late Sher Mohammad Marri. After saying goobye to Marri’s father, Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, for being unfair with them, the Bijaranis are allegedly guarding the Pakistan military-controlled multi-billion coal mines operation at Chamalang. Pakistan accuses Marri of being the operation commander of the militant Baloch Liberation Army. Baloch who want to see their country emerge on the world map have a love-hate relationship with the B.L.A. Most B.L.A. actions have been highly heroic but some of them have been unbridled in historic cowardice like the killing of Balochistan University journalism professor Nazima Talib on April 27, 2010.
