Islamabad: February 17, 2012. (PCP) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will soon honor his commitment to allot residential plots to homeless tenants. This was stated by MNA Mehboobullh Jan, Chief Patron of World Minorities Alliance, and Religious Affairs Parliamentary Secretary while addressing a convention of homeless tenants held Friday outside the National Press Club. The convention was organized by Convener World Minorities Alliance Mr J Salik. Mehboobullah Jan said the Prime Minister in no way could ignore the voice of millions of homeless tenants as he had fulfilled all his promises made to the masses. He said World Minorities Alliance would remain committed to promoting the cause of the minorities whose historic role in creation of Pakistan could never be forgotten. He regretted that minorities had little representation in the United Nations which had miserably failed in protecting their rights. He said the UN itself is not a free organization as its headquarters are located at the soil of United States of America to visit which US visa is required. He regretted that Urdu being of a billion people could not be enlisted as one of the official languages of the United Nations. J Salik while addressing the convention regretted that the Prime Minister had failed to honor his commitment that homeless tenants would be allotted residential plots with 100 days of his announcement on March 30, 2008. He said 1780 days had passed since Prime Minister announced the decision but his promise had yet to be fulfilled. He warned that he would have to approach the Supreme Court in case the Prime Minster further delayed implementation of his decision. J Salik said right to shelter had been ensured both in the Constitution of Pakistan and Charter of Human Rights of the United Nations.” But the United Nations had so far miserably failed in implementing its charter in the Third World countries including Pakistan,” he observed adding that the UN itself was not a free institution as its headquarters were located on the soil of the United States of America. He demanded that the UN Headquarters be shifted to an independent land where the world organization should have its own airport, currency and passport. He announced that on March 1, the World Minorities Alliance would organize a rally demanding independent role of the United Nations. He said the rally would also demand introduction of Urdu as one of the official languages of the United Nations.
