Sindhi Nationalists observe Wheel-Jam strike against 20th amendment

LARKANA: January 28, 2012. (Nazir Siyal) A complete wheel-jam and shutter down strike was observed in Sindh province on the call of a Nationalists Parties coalition Save Sindh Committee (SSC) against the 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill submitted by the MQM in National Assembly (NA) On Saturday, all the major trade and businesses as well traffic was suspended to protest against the anti-Sindh decision to distribute the Sindh province by ruling PPP government. In several district of Sindh including Larkana, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Ratodero, Mehar, Nasirabad and other parts of pronvice wheel-jam and shutter-down witnessed. The markets and roads deserted look early in the morning, while attendance at all government and private offices and schools remained very thin on the occasion. A heavy contingent of police and Rangers were deployed at different sensitive’s buildings and chowks in the cities. A large number of workers of different political nationalists parties carrying colorful flags and banners and shouted slogans of Jeay Sindh and demanded to withdraw their stance to distribute Sindh. Nationalists Parties among Jeay Sindh Qaumi Movement, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh United Party, Sindh National Front, Sindh National Paraty and others took out protest demos at various districts and chanted slogans against the decision. Several workers were arrested in different parts of Sindh and later released told the sources. A National Highway from Karachi to Punjab and other provinces was shut down by the workers of Nationalist parties on the occasion. Talking to the media men Nationalist leaders of parties neglected the move for provinces in Sindh and truned down policy of ruling government allies, for presenting 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill in Assembly and said it is the attack on the sovereignty, integrity and unity of Sindh. They said the making province in country is trying to abolish the provincial autonomy under the 1973 constitution. The Nationalists also claimed that the MQM not only wants to divide Sindh, but it was longing to break Pakistan under the aegis of the international powers. Nationalists leaders on the occasion, threatened that if the Bill was presented in Assembly, it will be last nail in the rights of Sindh and all the responsibility will be laid on this government with allies, people of Sindh will not forget any one nationalists said.
