Islamabad: January 26, 2012. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that Christian Marriage Amendment Bill 2011 and Christian Divorce Amendment Bill 2011 may be publish for public notice in all Pakistani newspapers and presentations may be invited by National Commission on Status of Women NCSW to hear Christian clergy and laymen point of view before legislation. The Christian Marriage Amendment Bill 2011, Christian Divorce Amendment Bill 2011 and Hindu Marriage Bill 2011 were drafted by National Commission on Status of Women NCSW and submitted in National Assembly of Pakistan Secretariat for legislation. Nazir Bhatti expressed concern on drafting of Christian marriage and divorce bills by NCSW in which there is no Christian woman as a Commissioner or member. The National Commission on Status of Women NCSW has all Muslim women as members or commissioners. Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have been raising voice against issuing decrees on Christian divorce cases by Muslim judges and demanding appointment of Christian judges to hear Christian divorce cases but NCSW have again not inducted it in draft of Christian Divorce Amendment Bill of 2011. “The Pakistani Muslims living in UK are enjoying protection of their personal law where Sharia Courts have been established and settling their marriage, divorce and property cases by Muslim Muffti,s but in Pakistan Muslims are not ready to protect Christian personal law which is very surprising and noteworthy” said PCC Chief The Indian Muslims have independent Islamic Board which decides on Muslim marriage and divorce cases to protect Muslim personal law but Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a state where Muslims issue decrees of Christian marriages and divorce cases. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti demanded protection of Christian personal law in Pakistan and expressed reservations on Christian Marriage Amendment Bill 2011 and Christian Divorce Amendment Bill 2011 drafted by National Commission on Status of Women NCSW.
