(PCP) “We always demanded to link US aid to Pakistan with repeal of all controversial Islamic laws contrary to Human Rights which are discriminating Christians, Hindus and other religious communities but same was ignored” said Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Dr. Nazir S Bhatti was commenting here on news which surprised millions of Pakistani Christian that US Administration gave Sunni Ithad Council sum of $ 36,607, in year 2009, for anti-Talaban propaganda and against religious extremism in Pakistan. The news of US grant to Sunni Ithad Council appeared on US website usaspending.gov and duly confirmed by US mission in Pakistan. The Sunni Ithad Council leaders denied reports and urged US Administration to render an apology on allegations of US grant. The Sunni Ithad Council activists took lead in Pakistan to pose killer of Shaheed Salman Taseer as a Hero during his appearances in courts to face trial. It will be surprising to note that US funded Sunni Ithad leaders have claimed to buy gun which used Mumtaz Qadri to spray bullet on governor of Punjab Shaheed Salman Taseer for Hundred Million Pakistani Rupees and awarded a killer a rank of Saint called in Islamic terms “Hazrat” Salman Taseer was assassinated by his bodyguard, an elite force policeman, Mumtaz Qardi in capital city Islamabad in 2011. Salman Taseer, as governor of Punjab, was seeking pardon from death sentence to a Christian mother of five, Asia Bibi, accused of blasphemy law. There are reports from dateline Multan in January 2012 that Sunni Ithad Council is joining hands with Pakistan Tehreek Insaf PTI of Imran Khan. It is on record that in Lahore rally of PTI in 2011, Islamic religious groups and Sunni Ithad activists participated with Trucks carrying hoardings with pictures of Mumtaz Qadri and depicting Holy Father Pope as dog with sign on it “Be ready to die; now it’s your turn” Dr. Bhatti said “The US aid to Pakistan for civilian purpose is not given in a small portion to millions of Pakistani Christians and only Muslims are its beneficiary” PCC Chief appealed US administration to allocate funds for Pakistani Christians in US aid to Pakistan and directly transfer it to Caritas Pakistan and Church World Service that Christian may enjoy due benefits in education and social uplift programs. Nazir S Bhatti opposed US aid or grant to Islamic extremists groups like Sunni Tehreek in Pakistan but to deserving moderate Muslim organizations which are struggle for equal rights and rule of law to establish tolerant society and social justice.
