Lahore: January 16, 2012. (PCP) The Catholic Church of Pakistan and Church of Pakistan clergy and congregates staged protest here today as announced instead of press conference of a Catholic Kamran Michael, Minority Affairs and Finance Minister in government of Punjab in which he assured of handing over property of “Gosha-e-Aman” and another 2 Kanals plot to Catholic Church. A section of press reports that Bishop Alexander Malik of Church of Pakistan while addressing protestors blamed involvement of a Catholic Kamran Michael, Minister in Punjab government in demolition of Catholic Charity institute on Alama Iqbal Road at Ghari Shahu, Lahore, which was bulldozed by Lahore Development Authority LDA on January 10, 2012. The hundreds of Christian protestors gathered chanting slogans against Government of Punjab and hoisting Play cards and banners inviting Higher Courts of Pakistan to take action to ensure justice to Christians who are victimized by state machinery and majority community in Pakistan. The “Gosha-e-Aman” which means Place of Peace was established in 1887, where an Old Age Home, School and Church was serving Christian community under supervision of Caritas Pakistan. This charitable plot valued billions and Muslim businessmen have eye on it to grab for commercialization from years. The Pakistan Christian Post PCP have reported after demolition of “Gosha-e-Aman” that watch on other properties which are in city center of Lahore and other cities of Punjab purchased by Churches in British Colonial rule and ready for renewal of leases after completion of hundred years will be grabbed by Muslim leaders in government like “Gosha-e-Aman” The case for renewal of lease of “Gosha-e-Aman” was pending in relevant courts while government of Punjab got orders from another court declaring this plot as “un-claimed” and bulldozed it at early morning hours on January 10, 2012, waking up residents to vacate their homes. The Church in “Gosha-e-Aman” was desecrated and Holy Bibles and Holy Cups used in religious rituals were also bulldozed by LDA and police in supervision of high officials.
