WMA celebrates World Minorities Day in Pakistan

Islamabad: January 12, 2012. (PCP) The World Minorities Alliance WMA celebrated “World Minorities Day” here today in Sheesh Mahal Hall, Islamabad Hotel, which was symbolically presided over by a portrait of Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of United Nations. The event was attended by Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims where distinguished leaders of minorities around world spoke on importance of this day. The Flags of all the UN members’ states were displayed at the front of table and a wall clock background placed to show the importance of time that time is running fast. The opening note was by Mr. Muhammad Afzal khan while Mr. Fasial Mushtaq, Executive Director Roots School System delivered a lecture on International minority Day. Mr. Abdul majeed Malik, a Social Activist, Haroon Sarab, chairman all Pakistan Hindu Rights & Founder Member of Pakistan Conical World, Mr. Sardar Charan Jeet Sign Sagra, Founder Member of Pakistan Conical World, Mr. Sohail .S. Kiani, Globe foundation of Canada, Mr. Babar Minhas, President of PPP Islamabad and Mr. Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepceion, Ambassador of Cuba were among speakers The Chief Guests of event was Mohammad Ajeeb , Hon. MA, CBE Former Lord Mayor of Bradford who is Coordinator of World Minority Alliance International and Mr.Mahboob Ullha Jan (MNA) and Chief Pattern of World Minority Alliance, MNA/Federal Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. Mr. J Salik, convener of World Minorities Alliance WMA said in his speech that the proper representation in the United Nation of the minorities will leads to the economic development and humanitarian assistance. J. Salik Convener of World Minority Alliance Nominee for Noble Peace Prize and Former Fedral Minister and 3 times Independent elected member of National Assembly Constituency all Pakistan said that on this event that acts of violence against minorities all over the world like publication of blasphemous caricatures, desecration of Holy Quran by a fanatic priest in the US, desecration of Babri Masjid in India, Ban on Hijab in Europe and else parts of the world, maltreatment to the suppressed and denial of the fundamental rights to the minorities. World Minorites Day was organized to 1. To draw the attention of the international community about the aims and objectives of the World Minorities Parliament that is consisted of 700 representatives from almost countries of the world. 2. To try to work out a collective strategy to safeguard the interests and legal rights of the minorities of the world in collaboration with all the stakeholders. 3. To draw a roadmap for continued efforts for international harmony and promotion of mutual respect for all the minorities in all the countries of the world, particularly in the Sub-Continent. 4. To encourage the peace activists and representatives of the minorities to ensure their regular assembly and exchange of ideas for the interfaith harmony and increased understanding among the followers of all faiths.
