Karachi: January 3, 2012. (PCP) Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Central Executive Council met here today to offer prayers for Shaheed Salman Taseer to mark his 1st death anniversary.
Salman Taseer, governor of Punjab, was gunned down by his body guard in capital city Islamabad, on January 4th, 2011. Governor Salman Taseer, met Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of 5, sentenced to death on blasphemy charges in sheikhupura Jail and demanded pardon for her from President of Pakistan. He also announced blasphemy laws to be controversial and un-Islamic, on which Islamic clerics issued religious decree against him as “Salman Taseer is blasphemer also to call blasphemy law a Black Law and should be killed”
Mumtaz Qadri, an elite force policeman, was allegedly deployed in guard duty team of Governor Salman Taseer during his visit to Islamabad, who informed his intention to other policemen to kill governor and told them that it is his religious duty to kill him. Mumtaz Qadri was assured by other members of duty guards that they will not shoot him if he kills Governor Salman Taseer.
The other policemen on guard duty never shot Mumtaz Qadri to stop him when he was spraying bullet from his official gun on Salman Taseer but arrested him when satisfied that governor is dead on spot. The lawyer fraternity garlanded and honored Mumtaz Qadri with rose petals when he was produced in Islamabad courts for remand next day.
The Central Executive Council of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC passed a resolution to pay homage to Shaheed Salman Taseer and demanded punishment for killer Mumtaz Qadri.
Mumtaz Qadri was sentenced to death by session courts but he filed an appeal in Islamabad High Court where former chief justice of Lahore High Court is pleading his innocence as his attorney.
PCC also expressed concern on kidnapping of Shahbaz Salman, son of Shaheed Salman Taseer from Lahore, who is not recovered by Punjab police after months.
The Pakistan Christian Post PCP sources in Lahore revealed that Shahbaz Salman was kidnapped to deal with release of Mumtaz Qadri from jail.
It is learnt by PCP that Shahbaz Salman is in tribal area of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan from where his abductors are demanding 6 crores of rupees ransom.
Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC demanded repeal of blasphemy law on 1st death anniversary of Martyr Salman Taseer and recovery of his son Shahbaz Salman from kidnappers.
