Christian leader demand Justice for minorities in Pakistan; 2012 Justice Cake ceremony

Islamabad: January 2, 2012. (PCP) Mr. J Salik, Chief of World Minorities Alliance and former federal minister for Population Planning was focus of Pakistani media and administration when he presented a cake with “Trazoo” hanging on top to represent courts and judicial system of Pakistan as “2012 Justice Cake” in National Press Club of Islamabad today where leading lawyers fraternity was present. “2012 Justice Cake” cutting ceremony was performed by Mohammad Yasin Azad Advocate, President of Supreme Court Bar Association, Ch. Ashraf Gujar Advocate, President Bar Association Islamabad, Malik Mohammad Sayed Advocate, General Secretary High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi, Sardar Asmat ullha Khan Advocate, Quad-e-tehrek restoration Judiciary Award and two times former President District Bar Association Rawalpindi, Taufiq Asif Advocate, Former President District Bar Association Rawalpindi, Zulifikar Ahmad Bhuta, Advocate For Human rights and Mr. J Salik. Mr. J Salik presented “2012 Justice Cake” to express failure of judicial system to ensure basic equal democratic rights of minorities in Pakistan. Mr. Julius Salik made history to win elections from local bodies to National Assembly of Pakistan for 8 times and rose up to federal minster for Population Planning in government of Pakistan and later nominated for Noble Peace Prize by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. When former military ruler President Parvez Mushrraf abolished Separate Electorate in 2002 and imposed Joint Electorate which enabled Muslim political groups to Select Christians and other religious minorities representation in Parliament instead of their Election by minority voters, Mr. J Salik protested against Selection system and termed it as un-democratic and un-constitutional. Mr. Salik moved his petitions in Supreme Court of Pakistan praying Elections on reserved seats for minorities in parliament instead of imposed Selection which were duly accepted for hearing but still pending for judgment. The “2012 Justice cake” was to invite attention of Higher Courts in Pakistan to ensure justice. The Chief Guest Mohammad Yasin Azad Advocate, President of Supreme Court Bar association Pakistan, on cake cutting ceremony said in his speech that Judiciary have not full filed hopes of public who struggled for its restoration. Mr. Yasin Azad said that women and minorities seats under Selection in this parliament are total denial of constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan of 1973. Mr. Azad assured J Salik that he supports his struggle for Election on reserved seats for minorities and women in parliament and rejects Selection. The lawyer’s fraternity in their speeches said that they will join legal fight of Julius Salik to ensure Election by minority voters on reserved seats for minorities in parliament and admitted that Selection is against the article 226 of the constitution of Pakistan 1973. The “2012 Justice Cake” ceremony was presided over by Sardar Asmat ullha Khan Advocate, Quad-e-tehrek restoration Judiciary Award and two times former President District Bar Association Rawlpindi while Saeed Wajid Bukhari, Former Federal Minister and Mr. Mushtq Lashari, Chairman Third World Country Solidarity UK, were Special guests.
