Bangladesh police said today they arrested two people in the suspected murder of two workers of a Christian charity in central Faridpur district.
The two workers of Christian Life Bangladesh were hacked to death by unidentified assailants on Thursday night at their home at Boalmari in Faridpur, 130 kilometres east of the capital, police said.
"We've arrested two people, one from the same village where the two field workers lived in a rented house," superintendent Abdul Jalil said. Jalil said investigators had not ruled out links to hardline Islamic militant groups.
Christian Life Bangladesh provides health services for people contaminated with arsenic from well water, those infected with HIV and provides nutrition education for mothers and children in a number of districts.
