Jaranwala, Faisalabad: December 1, 2011. (PCP) On November 28, 2011 a study circle was organized by development organization for social transformation (DOST), Social welfare society, Saibaan organization and Christian Study Centre (CSC) at office of Saibaan organization, Jaranwala, Faisalabad. 25 male and female participants belong to different spheres of life actively participated in the study circle. The fundamental rights were discussed in the study circle.
The activity was started with the introduction of the organizations. The introduction of organization was shared by Mr. ZafarIqbal. Mr. Aamir Shehzad (Executive secretary DOST organization) shared the purpose of activity, he also shared the objectives of the organization for the promotion of peace and human rights.
The purpose of the activity was awareness of the community about their basic rights and fundamental freedoms. Universal Declaration of Human Rights was also shared to the participants. Some articles of constitution of Pakistan 1973 were also discussed. Participants shared their introduction and personal experience regarding implementation of the constitution in country. They shared that current situation of Pakistan is very miserable; people of Pakistan are not enjoying their fundamental freedoms and basic rights. Marginalized groups of community like as, women, children, labor and persons with disabilities are victims of discriminations and outmoded customary practices.
They demand gender equality and equity to make a just society. They demanded to political leaders to give up their personal interests and kindly think about the poor people of the country. The demanded the government to increase the amount in the budget for health and education. The demanded that a chapter should be included in the curriculum to educated the youth and children to provide education on human rights.
The programs of awareness of human rights education should be organized for the grass root communities. Participants appreciated the struggle of human rights defenders and said that it is obligation of every citizen to serve for the promotion and protection of human rights.
They condemned the recent attack on Pakistan by NATO forces. They termed this attack a terrorism and an open violation of human rights. They urged government to go to international court of justice for this act of violence and terror by NATO.
The copies of UDHR and Chapter of Fundamental rights in constitution of Pakistan 1973 were provided to every participant for their personal study. The study circle was ended with refreshment.
