Karachi: November 24, 2011. (PCP) MPA Saleem Khurshid Khokhar, Chairman, Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs, Sindh Assembly and President, All Pakistan Minorities Alliance Sindh had raised the issue of the Christian Preacher / Evangelist Jameel Sawan who was assassinated on 16 of November, 2011 at his shop in Karachi in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Pakistan that justice should be provided to the affected family and he urged the law enforcement agencies to catch the culprits of this heinous crime and they must be punish as per law. MPA Saleem Khokhar appealed before the Chief Minister Sindh to provide protection to the above cited victim’s family and some financial assistance should be provided to them as the victim was the only bread winner of the family and if it is possible then one of the victim’s son should be provided job on early basis. Two minutes silence was observed on the plea of Provincial Legislator Saleem Khokhar over this said incident and also the three Hindu doctors who were killed in Shikarpur few days before. Saleem Khokhar had visited Shikarpur and expresses his condolences and sympathies with the families of the assassinated Hindu doctors, he also attended their funeral. He promised with the both affected families that he will raise the issue of protection of minorities should be provided by the Government soon not in words only but practical measures should be taken otherwise the minorities will continue to suffer from insecurity which is unfortunately increasing to an alarming level. Yousuf Rafiq son in law of the late assassinated Christian preacher / evangelist had informed the Provincial Legislator about his security concerns that he was threatened by some personnel while he was on a preaching visit to Hafizabad by occupation he was a teacher and used to preach in a local community. When the threats became life threatening then he took refuge in Karachi City. Yousuf Rafiq appealed before MPA Saleem Khokhar to provide him security in reply the Parliamentarian said security cannot be provided to everyone it is not possible but I will try to remove your grievance. It is evident that the forces of religious hatred and extremism are getting strong day by day and affecting innocent Pakistani citizens and bringing disrepute upon our beloved country Pakistan, in order to curb and prevent such forces of hatred and extremism we must promote interfaith dialogue on community level, government level and must through education as well, this is need of the hour and a way forward.
