Karachi: November 17, 2011. (PCP) Jamil Masih aged 50 years was shot dead when he was opening his shop in Moon Shopping Center, in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi, on November 16, 2011. Jamil Masih was living in Essa Nagri with his wife and five children and running a Cosmetic shop from years. He was very popular among Christian circles of Karachi and had passion to uplift his community youth. Essa Nagri is biggest Christian colony in Sindh province of Pakistan with thousands of registered Christian voters used as vote bank to succeed two Christian members of Sindh Assembly from 1985 to 1998, when Christians were electing their parliamentarians with their votes under Separate Electorate. There are graves of Essa Nagri Martyrs in Awami Church who were martyred during 1970,s in an attack of Muslims to grab land of Essa Nagri which became valuable after Gulshan-e-Iqbal housing scheme by Karachi Development Authority. Jamil Masih was working to safe Christian youth of Essa Nagri from drug addiction when Muslim Drug Mafia and police pushed drug in this Christian colony to turn it a den. According to PCP information’s two unknown armed men opened fire on Jamil Masih when he was opening his shop and he died on spot. Jamil Masih,s dead body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem and wave of anger spread in Essa Nagri. According to Fides, a Protestant Pastor Jamil Sawan was killed yesterday with three gunshots in Karachi: this is what Paul Bhatti confirms to Fides, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister for religious Minority Affairs and Chairman of the APMA (" All Pakistan Minorities Alliance "), the largest organization of religious minorities in Pakistan. According to one friend of deceased “Killing of Jamil Sahib is really deplorable, I knew him personally, he was down to earth. He had a lot of passion to do something for the poor, jobless and addicts. Being Christian, he was elected President of the Market Association that shows how popular he was amongst 99.99% Muslim Shopkeepers. Christians of Pakistan have lost a true friend who loved his people from the depth of his heart and wanted to do something to bring about change in their lives”
