Begum Nusrat Bhutto laid to rest

NAUDERO/GARHI KHUDA BUX: October 24, 2011. (By Nazir Siyal) The funeral Prayers of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, the mother of former Chairperson PPP Benazir Bhuttto, first lady and wife of founder PPP former Prime Minister Zulifqar Ali Bhutto was held here at Naudero House and Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto here on Monday. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Chairman, PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, other prominent PPP leaders and politicians from different parties attended the funeral prayer at President House Naudero. Later the coffin was being carried to the ancestral graveyard of the Bhutto family in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, on the occasion funeral prayer was offered after the relatives and close family friends had the last glimpse of Begum Bhutto. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani along with Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asifa, Bakhtawer, Sanam Bhutto arrived here at Sukkur Airport with coffin of Begum Nusrat Bhutto than flown to the Naudero by Helicopters to mark of respect to the mother of democracy. Hundreds of PPP leaders, federal and provincial ministers, representatives of different political parties have also arrived at Naudero House to pay homage among the President of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Mohamamd Yaqoob Khan, Federal Ministers including Firdous Ashiq Awan, Syed Naveed Qamar, Babar Awan, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Manzoor Watoo, Speaker of Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and all members of Sindh cabinet, PPP While other parliamentarians and ministers including Raza Gillani, Governor Punjab Latif Khosa, Governor Khybar Pakhtoon Khuwa, Barrister Masood Kusar, Federal Minister Syed Khursheed Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar, Shahid Bhutto, Jahangeer Badar, and other federal, Provincial and prominent political figures, hundred of leaders and workers attended the last funeral prayers of Begum Nusrat Bhutto at the ancestral grave yard at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto. Meanwhile, Dr. Farooq Sattar of Mutahida Qaumi Movement led a delegation of his party members that also included Wasim Akhter, Dr. Saghir Ahmed and others to attend the funeral prayer of the former first lady and widow of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, President, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) along with senior party members were among several prominent politicians to reach Naudero House as a mark of respect for the lady. On the occasion, strict security measures were taken in Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bux, about seven thousand police and rangers personals were deployed at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto around the four corners leading to Naudero, Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto and Larkana. Earlier, the first Lady Begum Nusrat Bhutto wife of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, mother of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Shaheed Shahnawaz Bhutto and Sanam Bhutto received a guard of honour at the Sukkur airport was brought from Dubai to Sukkur by special flight by her daughter Sanam Bhutto, Co-chairman PPP President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, her grandson Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Granddaughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari, was laid to rest at Garhi Khuda Bux alongside her husband Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto grave. The acting President of Pakistan announced to award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz for the former first lady Begum Nusrat Bhutto. Late, Begum Nusrat Bhutto always faced hardships and grief’s in life, she lost her husband Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1979, her younger son Shahnawaz Bhutto 1985, her elder son Mir Murtaza Bhutto in 1996, and her daughter Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in 27th December-2007, she was struggling against dictatorship and revivable of democracy in country after the trial and execution of her husband in 1979, she became chairperson of PPP from 1979 to 1983, she was bold female leader who waged war against the dictator General Zia-ul-Haq and led the MRD Tahreek, she was imprisoned and placed under house arrest by the then regime of late dictator Zia-ul-Haq. She was symbol of struggle and democracy. PPP leadership has announced 10 days national mourning over the sad demise of Begum Bhutto. On Monday, all government offices, shops, schools and businesses was closed across the country.
