Karachi: October 24, 2011. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that blasphemy law in Pakistan is only to victimize Christians, Ahmadi, Sikhs and Hindus not influential Muslims. In a statement issued by Central Secretariat of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, Dr. Bhatti expressed surprise that Islamic Clerics have staged processions to register case of blasphemy against former Home Minister of Sindh Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza on his defiling comments in a press conference on October 9, 2011, in Karachi, but a Station House Office is defying to register FIR while a Christian or Ahmadi is sent to jail or gunned down if any Muslim or Imam of mosque alleges them blasphemer. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that Rauf Siddique who is Industries Minister in government of Sindh and leader of MQM, on decree (Fatwa) of leading Islamic Clerics, approached Sindh Police to register FIR against Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza on his blasphemous comments in a press conference but a SHO rank police officer denies registering case under section 295 B and C PPC. Mr. Rauf Siddique knocks at door of Session Courts of Karachi to seek orders to file case under blasphemy law against Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza on which court orders to file his complaint under Section 156 in police station of due jurisdiction without directing SHO to file FIR under section 295 C PPC as prayed by petitioner. Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza is former Home Minister of Sindh government and ex-provincial leader of ruling Pakistan People’s Party PPP and its media report that he is friend of President of Pakistan then how a SHO can register blasphemy case against him? Nazir Bhatti said “Blasphemy charges can be filed against poor woman Asia Bibi after 3 hours of his arguments with co-workers in fields on complaint of village mosque Imam who was not even present on scene of incident in fields where he alleged in his complaint that Asia Bibi defiled holy name of Prophet which led to poor Christian mother Asia Bibi,s arrest and sentence to death” “Shahbaz Bhatti talked about amendment in blasphemy law and Islamists gunned him down in broad day light in capital city of Pakistan, Rasheed Brothers were gunned down in Faisalabad Courts, Danish Masih was killed in jail of Sialkot and there are dozens of cases when without any enquiry by any Police officer Christians were charged under blasphemy” said Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti raised question that why complainant have to go to courts for registration of blasphemy case against Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza when Islamic clerics issued Fatwa against him and complainant is respectable Muslim with knowledge of Pakistan Penal Code PPC and Islamic Sharia? There have been blasphemy accused Christians who were acquitted by Higher Courts of Pakistan and proved innocent but they faced hardships of jails for years but if proper enquiry have been conducted by police before registration of cases against them because they were poor Christians not friend of Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan or former Home Minister or influential Muslim like Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza. Dr. Bhatti said that blasphemy law in Pakistan is misused by Muslims to settle scores against Christians which invites attention of Pakistani Administration and Islamic clerics for repeal of this law. Nazir Bhatti said that millions of Pakistani Christians are watching case of Zulfiqar Mirza and tactics of administration to safe an influential Muslim from blasphemy charges when three weeks are passed to occurrence of incident while Asia Bibi, a Christian mother was sent to jail after 3 hours of allegation of blasphemy.
