Lahore: October 21, 2011. (PCP) ”No government can be successful in Pakistan without taking religious minorities in confidence” it was main slogan of rally organized by minorities councilors in front of Lahore Press Club here today to condemn injustices towards minorities workers.
The protest march was led by Mr. J Salik, Convener of World Minorities Alliance, nominee for Noble Peace Prize and Former Federal minister which was attended by hundreds of minorities workers and activists.
The protestors were chanting slogans “Aqualtoon Ko Itmad main lyie Bageer Koi Hukamat Kamyaab Nahi Ho Sakti” “Mazdoor Ithadd Zindabad” “Minorities Zindabad” and hoisting banners and play cards of their demands.
The participants holding Pakistani Flags were inviting attention of government on quotations of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Founder of Pakistan in light of Pakistan Resolution of 1940.
Addressing protestors, Mr. J Salik expressed sadness and said that minorities’ basic rights were ignored in Constitutions of 1956, 1962 and 1973 which are again denied in 18th Amendment of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Constitution of 1973. Mr. Salik said that why a non-Muslim cannot be President of Pakistan or Prime Minister of Pakistan if constitution secures equal rights for every citizen of Pakistan as it is claimed?
Mr. J Salik said that selection of 60 reserved Muslim woman seats and 10 reserved seats of minorities In National Assembly of Pakistan and likewise selection of women and minorities in provincial assemblies in against true spirit of democracy and contrary to 1973 constitution.
The convener of World Minority Alliance Mr. J Salik said that in Pakistani flag white color show the assurance of minority rights and first Prime Minister of Pakistan Quid-e-milat Liaquat Ali Khan assured that white color in flag gives surety to Christian community and other minorities of Pakistan of equal rights while addressing in Holy Trinity Church Karachi.
Salik further said that 35 years ago Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP and the Prime Minister of Pakistan commissioned Federal Ministry of Minorities but unfortunately the Federal Ministry of Minorities is dissolved by present PPP government.
J.Salik said that PPP government expresses proudness on allocation of 4 seats for minorities in Senate of Pakistan but falls short on distribution of said seats among Christians, Hindus, Ahmadi, Parsi, Sikhs and other religious communities in Pakistan which is very confusing.
Mr. Salik demanded seat for Minorities in Senate of Pakistan from Capital of Pakistan quota and FATA which is ignored in 18th amendment in constitution of Pakistan.
J Salik said that privatization of 10 thousand sanitary workers of SWM of Lahore Municipal Corporation are unfairness with Christian community.
