Karachi: October 13, 2011. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have expressed grave concern on safety of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, sentenced to death on accusations of blasphemy, now waiting for her appeal in Lahore High Court against her conviction in Central Jail Sheikhupura, Punjab province of Pakistan. It was reported in national Pakistani media that one jail official attacked and tortured Asia Bibi in her high security cell and she became unconscious. There have been cases of killing of blasphemy accused Christians in Sialkot, Lahore and Karachi jails which were declared suicides by authorities and it was already feared by PCC that Asia Bibi can be also killed in jail. The Islamists and tools of banned Islamic terrorists are acting openly in Punjab province of Pakistan and ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML (N) is hostage of such Jihadi elements being their vote bank. It is on record that Islamists who burnt 7 Christians alive in city of Gojra walked free from courts because Law Minister of Punjab was voted by that outfit members. One Islamist body guard of Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer opened fire on his boss and martyred him in capital city of Pakistan in 2011, because he met Asia Bibi in jail and favored pardon for her from President of Pakistan. Asia Bibi was arrested on accusations of defiling name of Prophet Mohammad when working in fields with Muslim women on touching drinking water pot and arguments on it. In Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Christians cannot eat in restaurants or roadside vendors in same utensils in which Muslims dine due to hate on religion. Nazir Bhatti said that it is very surprising that Judges of Lahore High Court are so fearful of Jihadi Muslims that they are not fixing any date to hear appeal of Asia Bibi in her conviction to death on blasphemy. “If Judiciary of Pakistan is reluctant to hear appeal of Asia Bibi on fear of Islamists then Pakistan must be declared a failed state by UN” said Nazir Bhatti Dr. Nazir Bhatti, urged President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari to adopt necessary measures to safe Asia Bibi in jail and punish jail officer who attacked and tortured her. PCC also demands Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to hear appeal of Asia Bibi against her conviction in fabricated blasphemy charges.
