Karachi: September 28, 2011. (PCP) Pakistan Christian Congress chief Dr. Nazir Bhatti has expressed his concern over the recent killing of Baloch political activists in Balochistan and asked the Baloch political organizations and sarmachars or freedom fighters to reach an understanding to prevent Balochistan from turning into a second Afghanistan. In a statement on Wednesday morning, Dr. Bhatti, who is also editor of the Pakistan Christian Post, said, "I am deeply anguished over the killing of Dr. Lal Bakhsh of the National Party in Turbat area. The most disturbing aspect of the killing is it is happening at a time when the Pakistan military brutalities are at its height in Balochistan and no Baloch, neither men nor women, is safe." He said more than 250 Baloch political and freedom activists have been killed since July last year and enforced disappearances and killings at the hands of the state machinery continues unabated. "At this critical juncture, the Baloch cannot afford to fight one another. Pakistani authorities are trying their level best to foment a civil war in Balochistan and turn it into a second Afghanistan," he warned Bhatti said he was all the more saddened as Dr. Lal Bakhsh came in the wake of two weeks ago of the cold-blooded murder of Mohammad Hussain, a cousin of Rashid Baloch of the American Friends of Balochistan. "Pakistani authorities are trying to give a bad name to the Baloch movement internationally. Such actions will take their work easy." He said he feels pained to see the Baloch political movement fractured and fragmented and one brother is not talking with the other brother, creating bad blood. "I had the privilege to go to Dera Bugti to meet with Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, whose hospitality was proverbial. Balochistan produced other great leaders like Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo, Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri and Sardar Ataullah Mengal and it would be a big tragedy if Balochistan is plunged into chaos and civil war because of infighting among the Baloch." He said offspring of these great leaders Brahaumdagh Bugti, Senator Hasil Bizenjo, Gazain Marri, Hybyair Marri, Jumma Marri, former chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Senator Malik Baloch, Kachkol Ali, freedom hero Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, and other stakeholders, specially the Khan of Kalat Mir Suleiman Daud should sit together to foil the web of conspiracies against the Baloch people and Balochistan. He recaled that the Khan of Kalat had convened a very succesful jirga five years ago and wondered why this can to happen today to reduce the level of mistrust among different stakeholders. "Jesus loves Baloch, may God bless Balochistan."
