Toronto, Canada: September 7, 2011. (PCP) Elder brother of Martyr Shabaz Bhatti, based in Canada and Chairman of Christian International Voice CIV Mr. Peter Bhatti clarified here today that suspects nominated in Anti-Terrorism Court ATC Rawalpindi by Mr. Sikander Bhatti in connection with murder of his brother are not related to our family nor we have and any enmity or rivalry with them. Mr. Peter Bhatti said that rumors are being spread by media in Pakistan that Assassination of my brother Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for minorities in government of Pakistan was family feud which are totally baseless and propaganda campaign. Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minority Affair was gunned down in Islamabad on March 2, 2011, when he was heading for Cabinet meeting. The killers sprayed 27 bullets on Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti and put printed pamphlet on his dead body blaming him a blasphemer of Prophet Mohammad and warning others of same fate who will dare to talk against blasphemy laws. On end of Pamphlet was printed name of organization “Tehreek Talaban Punjab TTP” and later TTP openly accepted responsibility of assassination of Christian Federal Minister Shahbaz Bhatti. TTP Tehreek Talban Punjab is militant Islamist organization in Punjab having connection with Tehreek Talaban Pakistan founded and operating from Tribal Area of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan and Al-Quaida. Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti was campaigning revision in controversial blasphemy law of Pakistan which has been misused to target Christians, Hindus and Ahmadi religious communities in Pakistan which was disliked by radical Islamic elements. There were frequent life threats to Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti and warnings to stop proposed changes in blasphemy law which he ignored and set his agenda on interfaith harmony and amendment in controversial Islamic laws. Peter Bhatti, Chief of CIV said that Sikander Bhatti who is our eldest brother is part of investigation team headed by Police Chief of Islamabad to probe assassination of Minister Shahbaz Bhatti and nominated two suspect in ATC according to findings of investigation team. According to Investigation Team the two suspects nominated before ATC Judge are members of one banned Islamist organization of Punjab who fled to Dubai after killing Shahbaz Bhatti and their warrants were sought for Interpol to extradite them to Pakistan to face trial. Peter Bhatti urged Pakistani media to refrain from spreading rumors but to support sacrifice of our brother Shahbaz Bhatti for interfaith harmony in Pakistan to ensure justice.
