Washington DC: July 29, 2011. (By Ahmar Mustikhan) The premier pro-independence American Friends of Balochistan Thursday condemned the killing of a Baloch woman by her Muslim fundamentalist husband and appealed to the Canadian authorities to fully investigate the killing and bring the culprits, including those who were trying to conceal the facts, to justice. Shaher Bano Shahdady, 21, mother of a two-year-old son was allegedly killed by Abdul Malik Rustam, 27, in her Scarborough apartment and, according to news reports, let her body to rot there. Rustam was irked why Shahdady used Facebook for social networking and killed her over 'honor', on Baloch source said. Shahdady was married off by her Muslim fundamentalist father against her wishes. The A.F.B. called upon human and women rights organizations in Canada to take serious notice of the killing as it is a manifestation of the rise of the ugly face of Islamic fundamentalism in Canadian society. “No woman deserves to die in the way Shaher Bano Shahdady died,” the A.F.B. said in its statement. “We call upon the Toronto Police chief William Blair to investigate allegations the Canadian girl was married off by her Muslim fundamentalist father to an unlettered man from Pakistan against her wishes.” The A.F.B. noted with disgust that some people were trying to portray the killing as a domestic dispute and a personal matter between spouses. “This is not the case as this was clearly a honor killing and that too on Canadian soil by a Muslim screwball.” The A.F.B. appealed to the Canadian authorties that the alleged killer should not be allowed ever to walk free on Canadian soil to endanger another human life. The A.F.B. also called Toronto Police and spoke with the detective in-charge, Seargent Graham Gibson.
