Philadelphia: July 26, 2011: A one day seminar titled as “Present situation of religious minorities in Pakistan” was conducted by Pakistan – Christian Alliance USA in Crowne Plaza Hotel Trevose near Philadelphia on July 23, 2011.
Mrs. Asyia Nasir (Member National Assembly Pakistan) was the chief guest whereas it was presided by Ms Iffat Gardaezi (Deputy Chief of mission Pakistan in Washington D.C), Rizwan Khan performed as stage secretary, other speakers included Mr. Stewart John (president), Pastor Bill Devlin of New York, State representative PA (R) Gene DiGirolamo, Mr. Haroon Nasir (Pakistan), Dr. Aslam Masih (Atlanta GA) were the key note speaker.
Speakers openly analyzed the complexity of current situation that Pakistan is in, especially in the areas of fundamentalism, terrorism and plight of religious minorities going on in Pakistan, speakers showed factual concern about the problems and their solutions that govt. of Pakistan needs to take to curb the situation by promoting equal rights, respect for all religions and take concrete step toward creating religious harmony and moderation in the society.
Mrs. Asiya Nasir educated the seminar about her role & activities in National assembly to promote human rights, women rights, working against corruption and working towards building bridges between religious and moderate factors she informed about steps that govt. is taking to deals with the these menaces. Asiya Nasir reiterated that Pakistan have great potential and will soon manage its problems as political forces were not provided chance to perform in dictatorships, she was hopeful that with democracy and dialogue we will ultimately succeed and will come out the problems created by military rules in Pakistan. Seminar was ended by a lavish dinner for all the guests.
