Mandi Bahauddin: July 23, 2011. (Sher Gondal) Major Sher Muhammad president, Major Nasir Javed senior vice president, Chief warrant officer Abdul Ghani general secretary Pakistan Ex-servicemen society Mandi Bahauddin and Sher Muhammad Tarar president Ex-servicemen society Phalia tehsil in a joint statement have criticized PMLN led Punjab government for ignoring ex-servicemen while considering nomination of members for district Zakat committee. They said more than thirty thousand ex.-servicemen reside in this district. Average strength of a family unit in Pakistan is 7 persons. On the basis of this average, strength of ex-servicemen including their family members in this district reaches two lakhs and ten thousand figures. Total population of Mandi Bahauddin is about fourteen lakhs. This shows ex-servicemen including their family members are 15% of district population. Besides, ex-servicemen are patriotic citizens and have equal rights to be considered for such appointments. They are also educated and capable of performing responsibility efficiently if given chance. They are not less than persons recently nominated as members of Zakat committee in any respect, who are mostly eulogists of local leaders of PMLN. Therefore, ex-servicemen urge Shahbaz Sharif CM Punjab to direct concerned authority for reconsidering his decision and appointing at least two ex-servicemen as members of District Zakat Committee. Making appointment of members purely on political affiliation is neither in interest of public at large nor is it in interest of PMLN, they emphasized.
