Mandi Bahauddin: July 22, 2011. (Sher Gondal) Secretary Regional Transport Shahid Imran Marth has called upon transporters to provide standard and dignified travelling facilities to passengers and asked them to remove all additional wooden planks placed in vehicles to accommodate more passengers beyond vehicles capacity. Only vehicles declared mechanically fit in all respects and issued with valid fitness certificate by authorized vehicle examiner would be allowed to come on road. Unfit vehicles would be impounded. “Violators of traffic rules will be dealt with severely”, he warned. He said it was duty of transporters to treat passengers with due respect and ensure better transport facilities to public, adding over charging and insulting behavior of transporters with passengers would not be tolerated under any circumstance. Meanwhile, DPO Dar Ali Khatak has directed all police stations under his jurisdiction to ask mobile phone shop keepers in their respective areas to maintain record of all those persons who sell and purchase mobile phones and Sims from them. They would enter details with regard to make; type and model of phone on a separate register with number of national identity card of purchaser/seller. Police would check this register periodically and shopkeepers failing to update record would be booked under the relevant law. He said maintaining such record was essential as it would facilitate tracing culprits using mobiles while committing crimes like murders, dacoities, thefts, cattle lifting and other criminal cases.
