Mandi Bahauddin: July 12, 2011. (Sher Gondal) People of Mandi Bahauddin has appreciated Chief Justice Lahore High Court for instructing DCO Lahore to submit a report on the assets of patwaris, tehsildars and other officials of the revenue department of Lahore, said Mukhtar Wirk, President Kisan Wing, Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society, Mandi Bahauddin here Tuesday. He said revenue officials were parasites who sucked blood of poor farmers without impunity. They enter fake mutations and take exorbitant fees. They prepare fake gardawries and serve as agents for initiating false litigation against innocent and poor farmers. They remain absent in areas of their posting and have opened offices in Mandi Bahauddin city. Every patwari employs two to three clerks at his office to maintain revenue records. They get postings of their choice with the support of local MNAs/MPAs and stay there as long as they continue enjoying political/bureaucratic backing. He also praised the CJ for his pointing out that 90% judicial staff in the courts was corrupt, a few days ago. He said voice of the CJ is in fact voice of the depressed people. He demanded revenue officials of Mandi Bahauddin district may also be asked to file reports on their assets, adding majority of marriage halls in Mandi Bahauddin were owned by retired patwaris.

Police has registered a case against unknown accused and further investigation is in progress. It may be added rustling cases are on rise in this area. Some time back in a similar case, 18 cattle were stolen from neighboring village Laidher. So far police has not been able to trace out the culprits.
